I took advantage of a warm day (30°) and washed my own bedding as well as my towel and yesterday’s clothing, then it was up and at 'em with a good dose of cheap Chinese Roundup on some weeds that the recent rains had invigorated.
Currently I am attempting to improve the sensor light on my garage, the old one needed replacing anyway because the diffusion screen had broken. I also want to move it to the front of the garage because its current location is very unsatisfactory. It is set off my the carport washing lines and nearby trees on a windy day.
While i was at it i decided to tackle the garage wiring which had grown like Topsy since I bought the garage forty years ago.
Oh my Lord Bruce!..
Just waiting for Mrs Fox to return from the hairdressers and then off to Sheffield (Meadowhall) to watch the new Bob Dylan film…A very fast walk this morning, and no running…Seems like everything is working as it should. Just a few spots of light rain but milder at 5 degrees C, out came the shorts…
It’s electricity day here too, Bruce. The upper HVAC unit conked out in the night, and right now the men of the family are sorting things out in the attic. I am glad that for once it’s not me having to figure out which one is the grounding wire…
Snow is due at noon and it’s like anticipating Santa across the entire area. All the floats that people use to bob around in the newly named Gulf of America have their noses pressed against the window in anticipation of some historic accumulation.
The house is now staring at me with its hands on its hips asking me what repairs, scrubbing, and sprucing up I plan to accomplish today. The pressure is intense; it’s already punished my sloth with the broken heat, so I had better get on with in hope of curbing this domestic rebellion.
Welders are a hard task for them too they tend to trip as you strike the arc whereas good old fuse wire might get a bit warm for a fraction of a second but soon settles down once the arc is struck.
No problem finding them in Australia they are always outside so the meter reader can find them.
As far as bragging rights are concerned - I did have my favourites - there were a couple of small engines that only I could start - a small 1 MW turbo alternator and a very large steam driven water pump. When I retired they gave me the rev counter from the latter as part of my retirement presentation - I did laugh!
In fact I was amazed that anybody remembered because it was well over a decade later that I retired and had moved on to different things in a different location (still in the steelworks but a few ks away).
