Good morning one and all on this lovely warm spring morning. Yes! Spring has sprung!
The beach patrols start today (swim between the flags), in go the shark nets and up go the new sharks spotting drones.
To celebrate, the weather is a touch above average with temps in the mid to high 20s. (ie Perfect)

It is also Wattle Day though in truth the wattle flowers have largely been and gone, we have had such a mild winter.
I have been collecting the “stuff” I am going to take with me on my upcoming trip and also spent part of the morning making sure camera batteries etc were fully charged.
Nothing much planned for today, just general pottering & tidying
I went to Colne Blues Festival, which was pleasant enough
I chatted to a few people, and got these comments on retirement -
One couple said that their kids had grown up and left so now we’re going to enjoy our retirement
We have savings & pensions and we’re travelling around, going on holidays, visiting places & doing things that we want & generally enjoying ourselves
We estimate that our savings will run out when we’re about 82 or 83; after that we’ll be on basic pension, but by that time we’ll probably not be able to get out & about as much
So we’ve told our children & grand children that we’ll leave them the Stuff - furniture, pots & pans, and all the rest, but don’t expect any money
Another retired couple said that they had just finished what we call ‘Doing The Quarters’
They had bought a camper van when they retired and each summer they had spent a couple of weeks driving at a leisurely pace to visit the furthest North, South, East, and Western points of mainland Britain
So, there’s some inspiration
Hmmm … my problem is that I think – Oh, I could do this, could do that, could do something else; and end up doing nothing
You’d think I would have sorted myself by now
Still, there are a couple of months or so of fine weather left; we’ll see.
Another sunny day but due to ongoing problems with my leg,I won’t be going anywhere…
Great attitude from the people you met at the BluesFestival zuludog, I agree wholeheartedly, after working hard and raising your family your time and money should be enjoyed while you have the chance
As long as you leave no outstanding debts and your funeral is paid for, blow the lot and have a great time doing it !
Just had my daily walk and check up on the wildlife. Just come back from having coffee and porridge before I do a few house jobs. I’m afraid I don’t have much more than that to add.
Stirred from my burrow and trotted into the village to do a few errands … had a nibble to eat and now I’m having a trawl around the forum.
Someone gave me a box of chocolates the other day and I’m sat here looking at it … looking … looking …
Pinch punch 1st of the month, September already oh my goodness where’s this year gone …
Today a trip into town with a friend to visit our favourite cafe , they make all their own cakes . next time it’s definitely going to be the banana bread this lovely big big banana bread slice is loaded on top with raspberries, blueberries ,blackberry ,strawberries banana and cream ….swoon, I held back just a modest slice of chocolate cake as tomorrow I’ve a dental appointment . Followed that up with a walk along the seafront.
I think they have the right idea, my estimate is about 90yo before I have to rely on the basic pension at my current rate of spending, by then I suspect that travelling will become a thing of the past.
Probably the state pension is the same in the UK in that it is more than adequate if you own your own home. Even though you get an additional rental allowance here, rents are becoming ridiculous.
The world in the last 200 years or so has jumped huge in maneuverability of people. Unfortunately it has also caused huge CO2 problems. Some say the Earth will reabsorb it but temperatures are really swinging hard to the up scale. I see Vance just said he is intrigued by the end of Times. Its obvious what’s going on. Its a Who Cares, Who gives a shat era.
Tuesday is coming near sundown now and a high of 102F. here with blazing sunshine. A Sunworshipper’s super day. Not mine, I love the middle 80’s areas.
