Good morning to all who follow here on this overcast and very cool winter’s day.
Didn’t get up at my usual time this, morning, waited until 7.30 because I decided to go to the pathology lab down my street for a PSA blood test before my visit to the specialist at the end of the month. They open at 7.30am but there is always a queue of hungry people outside at that time (fasting blah, blah) so I wait until an hour later when there is either very little or no waiting. I wonder how these nurses cope with doing one blood test after another every day?
On my return home I got my varnished piece of wood from the car port to try out, it does the job, whether I will use it much is a moot point.
BTW my hamburger last night was a triumph, added cheese, egg and onion to the meat patty plus some HP sauce, it made a lovely dinner. Not fond of lettuce so I didn’t miss that though I could have used some nasturtium leaves from the garden and I forgot to add a pickle. Next time…
Because of the cool weather will probably read for this arvo in a sealed room with the fan heather blasting away, tomorrow the sun is supposed to return and with it proper winter temperatures…
Have a lovely summer’s day in the northern hemisphere (dead jealous)
Not much happening here, apart from dealing with my father in law and carers, which causing all sorts of upset in the family, especially on the subject of wills and care homes, as his health seems to be deteriorating by the day.
Apart from that, I really need a new lens for my camera as my old one let me down just when I needed it. Problem is, the one I wanted is obsolete and the best replacement is nearly twice the price. Need to sit down with some strong coffee and seriously think about what to do about it.
I have more corals arriving today, not many, but enough to keep me busy.
They arrive from this supplier by Royal Mail, Next Day before 1pm.
I am sure Royal Mail do not like me,they invariably arrive justs seconds before 1pm and the box is always delivered upside down in spite of being clearly labelled, this way up, live animals.
First things first, I need a haircut, not something I enjoy, made worse by the fact that Sharna is taking me, she is a perfectionist, so instead of being able to jump out of the chair ASAP,she is giving instructions to them , so it takes ages.
I would hate to be a woman, it costs me £12, she pays £175, double that if she has it tinted as well.
Good morning!
Cooler and slightly cloudy, which is a welcome change from the really hot weather recently – that definitely makes me an old man!
Just generally taking it easy today, though I might clean the kitchen floor
Also making a start on getting packed as I’m going away for a long weekend in a couple of days
Morning all – strong winds with rain forecast for later – seems my garden umbrella trick is working too well!
Gardener turned up unexpectedly yesterday – I thought he was on holiday! He was here for 45 minutes when the heavens opened. He managed some TLC for the lawn and tidied up the planters
Idiotic quote of the day: the council in Bradford on Avon, which suffered during the flooding, has cancelled a planned flood defence scheme, one of the councillors has suggested residents keep a supply of “gaffer tape” to keep out flood water and give them “thinking space”!
Hello Everyone…
The special occasion yesterday was my birthday…
We drove to Whitby and called in at the ‘Magpie’ this gorgeous little fish and chip restaurant.
They found out it was my birthday, I don’t know how…Perhaps it was Mrs Fox and friends singing happy birthday…Anyway, they presented me with this birthday cake…
Looks like you had a good time OGF, was it a “milestone” birthday? Funnily enough it was my nephew’s birthday yesterday too, although I think you may be a few years ahead of him
