Received an email from Hills telling me that the end caps on my line are no longer made. I am not surprised as they must be 40 years old but I have used superglue on them and they are drying now. Might add some duct tape to give them a bit of strength when I hope to restring the line tomorrow and get some washing done.
Let’s face it they are just an attachment point for a string so if the worse comes to the worse I can get something from Bunnings to make an attachment point at the end of the arm.
Apart from that, once I have finished this message I will get the mower out and attack the grass (a job I hate).
Not a lot happening today. Just dropped the wife off to the gym and had my usual coffee and sandwich, then she’s off to meet up with her sister for a chat and shopping, leaving me on my own (again!)
Really would like to cut my lawn and clean up my drive, but the rain has been a bit relentless lately and it’ll all have to wait until it all dries up a bit. Meantime, I’m sat here mucking out on my PC and do a bit of admin.
I’m going to treat myself to a whinge up now. Why do so many people turn up for a workout and then sit for what seems like ages staring gormlessly into their mobile phones. It’s really annoying when you’re waiting to use a particular piece of equipment/bench
This mobile culture is insidious!
I’ve been invited to dine in the executive lounge of a certain league football club with Chilli jnr tonight. Then it’s a seat in the director’s box to watch the game!
A couple of large gin and tonics at the bar will be a must.
Might even have one at half time too!
Unbelievable
Remember the issue i had about the sticking SD cards in my camera and the problems with claiming insurance?
Well I posted about it on trust pilot on the 1 sept 2025. The said insurance brokers have just sent an email " 2 MONTHS LATER "to see if they can resolve the issue.
This was after I paid for the repair myself several weeks even earlier.
I’ll give you a hint; it’s not a hospital or medical office.
Most satisfying, isn’t it, @Bruce! I love shutting down the complaining and and dirty looks I get from nagging, unfinished repairs and currently, the oven that needs a good cleaning.
@Graham, you and me both! Last night’s freeze has me sitting on my hands until the downpour of leaves shocked into sudden fall stop…falling. I hope your wife has a good outing.
@Chilliboot, that’s of my favorites, holding a disk weight like this one, but whooo, no way I could do that angle of incline! Amazing.
Have a great time tonight enjoying the posh treatment and libations!
@realspeed, five years later we are still hashing out an insurance payout that had to come out of owners’ pockets tha has a ridiculous number of zeros in it. The state, taking the place of the failed insurer, is hoping to win a war of attrition with us, but I am determined to hold ground. Good luck!
Good evening everyone, just thought I’d check in and say hello even though it’s not morning anymore. Busy day today, flu jab first thing, then drove to town and spent ages looking for parking space to get to the insurance office to renew my car insurance policy, then driving around again looking for another parking space for the post office, then driving around again looking for yet another parking space for other boring, official matters to sort out, then took my mum and dad to get their flu jabs done, too! Finally, I stopped at a mechanic to get one of my car headlights replaced! Four hours in all, most of which was spent driving around in traffic! Oh, I’m so glad to be back home in my home in the quiet countryside.
I’ve just been watching on the news about that poor dolphin in the Venice lagoon!
I hope he manages to go back home soon without being harmed in any way. He’s in real danger, especially because of all the vessels around! I’ve been reading that he actually does go back into open sea to his own habitat, but keeps coming back because tourists are feeding him, but they shouldn’t!
Because I am going away for a few days I have a little list, ticked off three this morning - feeling smug!
About time. I must admit I would have been complaining long and hard, squeaky wheel and all that. I don’t know what trust pilot is but would certainly have taken it to the Ombudsman, what’s the point of insurance if they don’t pay out?
I can only echo the words of Gough Whitlam, “I get enough exercise attending the funerals of those who did exercise”
