Good Morning Thursday 7th November 2024

Good Morning to you all on this rather strange Thursday.

When I got up this morning at about 6.30am to take the dog for a walk it was about 28/29°, one of those peculiar nights where the house doesn’t get a chance to cool down. Now it is late morning the temperature has dropped to about 24° so I have all the doors open to cool the place.

When I have finished posting this I will have another shower to cool me down too.

I undoubtedly will follow this with the task of taking the bins out. On the way home with the dog discovered someone had dumped a couple of wine bottles by the footpath at the side of my house (no idea why) so will add them to my bin.

Have a wonderful Thursday, it will soon be the weekend, that’s something to look forward to, unless you are a shift worker.

Take care, be good.

Good morning - Grey but dry. This has been the weather pattern for the last few days and set to continue for a while.

Our Son is arriving today and our daughter tomorrow. Both flying in for my upcoming 80th. We don’t see our Son in person very often, so that will be good. Our daughter manages to get here more often but it will still be good to have her around. She is a big organiser of things but not overbearing.

I won’t be quite as lively or the same ‘looker-afterer’ as usual but I expect they will manage.

Have a good day

Morning all – yet another dull, grey, damp overcast day  – I am forgetting what sunshine looks like!

My lovely neighbour popped in with homemade cupcakes yesterday morning, so good but so bad for the waistline :cupcake:

More fireworks last night so it seems there will be no respite – probably have them every night up to and including Sunday – after that I hope it will stop until New Year’s Eve!

Decided to cancel the cleaner – had a bad feeling about her and as she failed to reply to a message, I sent her another saying I had thought it over and changed my mind. I had an immediate reply asking why and was it because I didn’t like her! I have since received 2 text messages – it’s beginning to feel like I have a stalker! :100: I have contacted a couple of other companies and am awaiting their response.

Off for the usual Thursday morning coffee, cake and gossip after which there is ironing needing to be done

Take care – have a lovely day everyone

Good Morning from Foxy’s Hi-Tech world… :electric_plug:
Got the new router (sorry hub) working and this mornings post is brought to you courtesy of a brand spanking new Halo 2 BT hub…Sposed to be a lot faster than the old one… :steam_locomotive:
Nice morning for a swift 3 miler but at 11 degrees C a bit nippy around the quads with a gentle mist producing some moisture…
It’s quite frightening walking with my hearing enhancement devices, that traffic sounds like it’s just behind me, and with rustlings in the bushes, who knows what lies in wait for me on the deserted lane. Perhaps some nyphomaniac madwoman waiting to pounce…So I left them languishing in their box…Perhaps the madwoman might still be there when I go back that way…
Engineer from BT due out tomorrow afternoon to set up my stuff, will he be surprised, that’s if he’s fit enough to climb up into my workshop in the loft…

Good morning from the dreary mist of Florida!

The entire universe conspired to get me up at 4 a.m., so I took advantage of it and whirled through the house clearning, scrubbing, dusting and laundring. With that accomplished, I was able to race through a nice four miles (our weather is similar, but alas, sex maniacs in sight, @OGF!) before slaying traffic on the way to the university. Alll this mist makes my hair look like I stuck my finger in an electrical sock, but the upside is that I look crazy enough that th traffic parted around like the Red Sea around me - :face_with_spiral_eyes:.

Later today, I have a meeting with Gutter Girl to get a quote on some guttering for the beach place. I’ve been gently convincing the other owners in the building that this is a necessary evil to protect the foundation, but it is an uphill battle with those who are more interested in cosmetic work. I’ll keep trying honey instead of vinegar…

@mart I am really pleased to her your children are visiting, but sorry you had a rough day of it yesterday. I do hope you have the perfect combination of a really nice time together and needed rest.

Good luck with the cleaner, @Sheila. You are very wise to trust your instincts!

Hoping your day is sunnier :sunny:!

Always nice to hear about your running exploits Surfer, it seems the weather is inclement at both sides of the pond. I’ve met quite a few ‘gutter girls’ in my younger day until Mrs Fox led me on the path of righteousness…
:innocent:
BT engineer (EE Actually) was working locally and visited on the off chance that we would be home, we were, and invited him in so while Mrs Fox fired up the kettle (visitors always get the obligatory mug of tea) I took him up to my workshop where the internet stuff is located…He went very quiet for the first ten minutes, I think he was impressed…
:astonished:
Apparently the BT Wifi was producing 60 Mb and the EE hybrid thingy was up to 100Mb whatever that means. Unfortunately, I only get to use EE if the BT service fails, and it’s free of charge. The engineer mentioned that one bloke on the same setup kept unplugging his BT router so he would be transferred to EE but BT sent an engineer round to find a fault that kept registering…

I think he was taking about the download transfer speed in Megabits per second (Mbs). Notice the crafty buggers quote “bits” not “bytes” because then it wouldn’t sound so impressive. (Same way HDD manufacturers talk in 1000s rather than 1024 so you wonder why a 2TB HDD only has 1.8TB space)
