Good Morning Thursday, 6th March 2025

Another lovely warm, sunny day - got up to 25° however it can only shower or rain from here on in, I noticed a cooler wind.

Rang my daughter early to tell her that I might not be visiting this weekend because driving home on Picton Rd or Macquarie Pass during torrential rain is no fun. Still depends on the forecast about the path of Cyclone Alfred after it becomes a tropical low but not looking promising at the moment.

Finished the job of fitting new TV in my camper and gave it a test run. So nice to have it controlling the sound bar as well. Feeling quite pleased with myself, job completed with minimal swearing. Might have even solved the slight problem where the aerial lead tends to fall out while travelling - zip tie and bulldog clip!

Have a job for my 3D printer however because the new TV remote control is much thinner and narrower than the old one so will have to print a replacement holder.

To cap off the day I have all the thrills and excitement of Bin Day :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: If the showers are late then I might even fit the new leaf strainers on my water tanks. It’s all go…

Have a lovely Thursday.

Take care…

Good morning!
Clear, sunny, no wind

I’m up bright & early as I’m going out for the day

Have you heard of Men’s Sheds?
It’s an organisation aimed mostly at retired men who find themselves with time on their hands, and is a sort of cross between a social club and a workshop
Community centres do things like knitting & playing dominoes but a Men’s shed typically does things like woodwork, repairing bicycles, electrical equipment, and anything else the members feel like - and all quite relaxed & informal, with plenty of time for drinking tea and generally putting the world right
This idea started in Australia and now they are spreading world wide, including loads in the UK

We’re trying to start one where I live in Burnley, and today there is a meeting in Preston for Shed members in the north west
I’m going for a chat and to pick up advice

If you’d like to know more, look up

Hi

Good Morning All.

I am still more restricted than usual, so having to be careful.

My marine tank is a disaster, I have a recurring bacterial bloom making the water very cloudy.

I may have to seriously think about stripping it all down and sterilizing it.

Have a great day whatever you are doing.

Morning all - a sunny start to the day, although rain is forecast for later (well I suppose it should be expected after all this is UK!)

The thought of a cyclone fills me with dread - I even hate when we get strong winds here in UK!! Stay safe Bruce

Update on Mum. My brother had a meeting with the doctor who said we have to accept she is now moving to end of life, although he couldn’t say how long it will be. The nursing home is concentrating on keeping her comfortable and pain free. Due to her dementia we don’t think she is aware of her situation and when my brother was with her she started singing Christmas carols and nursery rhymes!

My neighbour called in yesterday with her usual Wednesday delivery of cake. She sensed something was wrong and I told her about Mum, it was nice to have someone to actually talk to about it.

My mobile phone is playing up – it put up a message saying it had stopped (kind of it to let me know!), I couldn’t send or receive texts or phone calls. I took out the battery and sim card and after I had put them back in it started working again! It is very old so perhaps the time has come to get a new one and I think a visit to the shopping centre on Monday is called for.

Today is the usual Thursday coffee, cake and gossip with the girls – it will certainly cheer me up.

Take care – have a lovely day

Don’t worry about me, Brisbane is 1000km away. BOM is forecasting 60mm of rain on Sunday, hence my reluctance to drive back from Canberra that day. There are flood prone areas within walking distance of me but not where my house is.

You have to feel sorry for people of places like Lismore and the northern rivers area. The levee is 10.4 metres high, the river is predicted to flood to 10.8 metres. The town is still recovering from the 2022 floods.

It is sad about your mum.

You could always do a quick pivot to a tropical fish tank as a last resort.
