Good Morning Thursday, 5th June 2025

Good morning everyone, it looks like I have just made morning with a few minutes to spare. Another cold winter’s day with sunshine, something like 18°.

I have been a busy bee this morning whipper snippering the edges of the footpath, because I refuse to cut the council’s grass it is quite a job. Then I got my little blower out to clean the path, I am afraid the days of using the broom to do this are past. (When I have finished this post I am going to have another shower!)

Of course the main job for today comes later - putting the bins out for collection tomorrow. I think it is recycling bin week too, though I have to check my calendar to confirm that. Does the excitement never end?

So close to the weekend! Even better it is a long weekend with a public holiday on Monday. Happy birthday King Charlie. :birthday: :birthday: The present’s in the post.

Have a tremendously tantalising Thursday.

Take care…

Hi all
Looks overcast this morning and it rained last night. On the home front our kitchen sink tap has started to drip , only a couple of drops per hour at the moment. So already got a replacement and the plumber is booked for tomorrow morning .
that is about all that is happening for now

A grey day today. Some rain expected. Quite a change after weeks of Sun.

Realised yesterday that the M.O.T needed booking, so have phoned and arranged that for tomorrow. I’ll be going to the pub later.

I was going to play with my new toy. It’s a gap weeder/scrubber, bought for the block paving at the front of the house. I’ll wait for a drier day.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning!
Dull & cool, but dry

The usual tidying, and finish most of the packing as I’m going away to Gloucestershire tomorrow for my daughter’s 40th birthday party

Also I must stay in this afternoon as the landlord company have booked an electrician to call - on Sunday for some unknown reason when I turned on a couple of hotplates on my electric cooker that tripped out the cooker and all the sockets, so no TV, computer, electric kettle and so on
I re set it and got the same fault
Re set it again so now all the sockets are OK but no cooker
That’s no problem as I live on my own and I can live off salads & sandwiches for a while, but it obviously needs sorting

Two other errands, which I’ll do soon - collect my prescription; and my local shop is a Polish shop and I’ll buy some Polish beer to take to the party
I can’t speak Polish so I don’t really know what I’m buying, but beer is pretty much the same in any language, and trying them is all part of the fun

Morning all – rain overnight and this morning is grey and overcast with heavy rain forecast for later.

A bit of a mystery this morning: Willing to try anything to help with my insomnia I bought some “sleep patches” (you stick them on your body and they are meant to release something overnight which helps you sleep – they don’t work!), anyway as I had spent the money thought I would use them and last night I used the last two. Got up, took off one patch but the second had disappeared! Searched the bed, searched under the bed, behind the headboard – nowhere to be found! Perhaps it has gone to the same place as Tupperware lids and odd socks!

Let me know how you get on with that gap weeder Mart

I’m afraid the grumpy old woman is still in residence and as if that wasn’t bad enough I can feel the black dog descending – I am trying to fight it off but I don’t seem to be succeeding.

Hope everyone has a lovely day

For my very large brick block drive I used a K5 Karcher pressure washer. Also did a neighbours one as well. Weeds didn’t stand a chance with the power of that Karcher

I have got a pressure washer but prefer to use the Patio Magic for keeping the brick faces clean all year round (longer sometimes). It’s just those weeds and the moss in the gaps I want to get rid of. I’ve got one of those V-shaped scrapers that will do it but they don’t last very long. We’ll see how the weed scrubber stands up to the job.

Morning all from a dull and drizzly south Hampshire

Just got back from my walk, but it started to pour when I was half way round and came home soaking.

“Mrs G” has some ongoing family issues at the moment, which is causing all sorts of grief for all concerned and hasn’t stopped texting for a couple of days. Hopefully it will get sorted soon and go back to normality. I will have to take her out at sometime later as she’s all upset to take her mind off stuff. But that’s families for you…

I’m not sure what’s happening in between all this, but no doubt something will come to mind - as it always does. Meanwhile, I will cope with life better once I get a coffee in me.

Have a great day all…

:coffee: :cookie: :grinning:

Gentle rain on my morning walk but mild with no breeze and I was hardly wet when I arrived home. The highlight was when two Herons flew past and started fishing on the canal bank.

They don’t usually let you get too close and this phone camera only has a digital zoom. I’ll start leaving the phone at home and start taking my canon camera, far superior and half the price. Although I can’t call Mrs Fox on it though… :009:

Interesting that you should buy your beer from a Polish Shop Zulu, the electrician might be Polish too so you could ask his advice and how to ask in Polish…

I found the answer was an un-smart small Doro phone and the compact Canon camera.

I regret the day I paid £500 for a samsung smartphone and retired my Alcatel clamshell phone.
I only use the internet for finding trigpoints. All my other internet stuff is done on this laptop.
500 quid just to talk to Mrs Fox while I’m out… :009:

Good afternoon all!

Miserable wet weather here West Sussex :cloud_with_rain:
Still, its been a stay in kind of day. Having had a thorough clear out of my bedroom which had become a glorified store room I’m relieved to say that my new bed has been assembled and the new mattress, duvet, bed linen etc installed :bed::zzz:
Some furniture arriving on Saturday.

Couldn’t be bothered to cook anything elaborate this evening, rather pop over to the convenience shop and get a couple of easy peasy slam in the oven type meals and a packet of Angel Delight :yum:

This arrived from Amazon earlier today…

Dark but compelling, something for after dinner with a couple of glasses of Malbec!

Enjoy what’s left of your day people! :+1:

I didn’t know that you could still buy DVDs. I always liked Samantha Morton I vaguely remember a film where her boyfriend died and she published his novel in her name - she seems to specialise in dark roles.

Will have to see if the film is on the Internet in HD

You certainly can still buy DVDS/Blu-ray Bruce, check out Amazon. Some of them can be quite collectable and expensive. I much prefer discs to the streaming experience, something tangible about them. A bit like the vinyl vs streaming music thing. I bought my Sony DVD and Bravia TV nearly fifteen years ago. Both are still going strong… fingers crossed.

Yes, I recommend Control as a film. It comes across so well in black and white, the last thirty minutes was ‘really’ dark.
Almost something of a post punk/new wave kitchen sink feel about the entire film.
