Good morning all you happy denizens of forumland 2025. It is a cool day here with only a max of 21°.
This morning early I stocked up with some goodies like milk while I also collected my new tablet from my PO Box.
I am a bit late posting today because I had to visit the dentist for a tooth repair after foolishly and carelessly eating a Gingernut biscuit. It cost me $175 - no Medicare for dentists!
The rest of the morning has been spent trying to set up the new tablet, in the end I did it from my phone rather than the old tablet but it is too easy these days.
The only other excitement in store for today is another visit by middle son and grandkids for the long weekend, they should arrive soon. I think they are off to Jamberoo Action Park on the weekend
…and, of course, it is Thursday and bin day! Recycling bin this week so all that Christmas wrapping from my grandkids presents can finally go.
That’s it… now you know all there is to know about my Thursday, what are you planning for today?
Morning all – the weather is set to get much colder, top temperature today 4c but at least it will be dry and the strong winds have dropped, we are also promised some sun!
Seems my neighbours have set their TV to switch on in the evenings (I think originally to drown out the noise of the fireworks) but I think the beast actually likes it – makes her feel less lonely!
I settled down last night ready to enjoy some of the chocolates and wine received as Christmas gifts, only to find my sense of taste seems to have disappeared – I had 2 chocolates and poured away most of the glass of wine. Hoping that rectifies itself soon!
The beast had been good last night, no little gifts waiting for me – unless she is getting better at playing “Hide the Poop”! She wouldn’t go out (no I don’t have the heart to put her out!) but did keep crying to be allowed into the hall, unfortunately I am under orders not to let that happen, I think that as well as holding me in contempt she will now start hating me!
Plans for today are to take down the Christmas decorations – at least that won’t take as long as putting them up!
Good morning - The Sun has come back at last but with a price to pay. It is cold and frosty with the temperature being 2ºC at 9.40 A.M.
It will be a quiet day with not much to do (I hope). It has been a busy Christmas. The decorations are being taken down as I write. The festive season is definitely at and end in our house.
Likewise we have a frost and its a sunny day . It makes a change to the grey days we’ve had . Im expecting a couple of deliveries , but with the holidays I’m not sure when they will arrive .
I am back from a run having worn everything in the closet on this January day.
I am spending the day working on two major construction projects at our condo building - researching bids, fielding owners’ questions and setting up the permits and bank transfers so we can get the work moving. The goal is to have the work started by the end of the month. I like this sort of work because I inevitably learn something about construction. In particular, one of the projects involves fiberglass jacketing of the support structures under the building that will require excavation below the waterline for each of the pilings. It’s a lot like the work they are doing in Venice to support maintain the older pilings at the waterline. Interesting stuff; the engineer is walking me though the load calculations and limits of decay that determine whether each piling needs work.
Other than that, the day will be spent in a tornado of deep cleaning, top to bottom now that the Christmas decorations are packed away. I like the feeling of starting out the year with everything spiffy, so the cleaning isn’t nagging with the reality of the holiday fun being behind us.
And that, dear friends, is the exciting report from the Gulf Coast. Enjoy your family, feline visitors and end of the festivities today!
Wow, you really are on top of things here! No, we have always been a proactive association that has stayed on top of the condition of our building. In fact, we were in the middle of repairs when the Surfside collapse occurred.
