Good Morning Thursday, 12th June 2025

Good morning everyone, still cold but at least the wind has died so it feels much warmer. Having said that 19° is not warm!

Yesterday’s car washing was not an unqualified success, I underestimated how wet the ground was - remembering that it has not rained since I returned a couple of weeks ago. I didn’t get bogged but it was a close run thing.

This morning was my seniors’ meeting so I am back in harness writing minutes and all the other little jobs this role entails (it is not arduous).

Bin day in the morning so I have to decide if it is worthwhile putting the bin out tonight for one small bag of rubbish - annoyingly, mostly soft plastic (reminder to self, must write to new MP about this).

Well, that’s my Thursday morning in a nutshell, enjoy yours.

Take care…

Hi

Good Morning Bruce and all who follow.

Yesterday was not good, deliveries did not not arrive on time and undamaged.

I missed the huge Strawberry Moon live, got it on video, but not the same.

I am hoping that Kinga can get a lot done in her 2 hours here this morning, serious Thunderstorms forecast later.

The rest of the day will be taken up with Internet Battles.

An order of £180 from a supplier who has gone bust and trying to get a refund for £57.50 from a Chinese Supplier.

Life was so much simpler when we had real shops to go to.

Have a good day all.

Morning all.

Unsettled weather down here in south Hampshire. Not sure if I should go for a walk or not as I might get rained on halfway round, which is what usually happens.

Anyways, not sure what’s happening today, may wander up later to feed the swans and cygnets, may do some online shopping for some camera stuff. Firstly, its time for my coffee and porridge.

Have a great day…

:grinning:

Morning all – damp start to the day with heavy rain and thunder forecast for later.

Am I the only one who gets nervous in thunderstorms? I blame my Mother, when we were growing up she would hide in the cupboard under the stairs during storms. I think it went back to when she was living through the blitz during the war

I am back on cat servant duty – she established her dominance by leaving a couple of little gifts for me this morning, after I had cleaned up she demanded cuddles (very unlike her) and I came away covered in cat hair!

Today is the usual Thursday get together with the girls, I haven’t seen some of them for a few weeks so it will be good to catch up

Good news is there is no dog poo on the drive this morning!

Take care – have a great day everyone

The builders are pouring in the base for the new garden building and I’m busy watching and fulfilling my role as teaboy. Going to the pub at lunchtime.

Have a good day.

Good morning!
A bit dull, but dry

I have planned a few errands today, hence a longer & rambling Post -

On my recent visit to my daughter’s birthday she received loads of presents including earrings, and in the general conversation she mentioned that she wouldn’t mind having some wooden earrings

Well I make model planes, the plastic kits, and I also make knives, I buy the bare blades and fit my own handles
This means I have a good collection of tools - adjustable vice, fine files & saws, pliers, offcuts of wood, acres of sandpaper, and so on
So I think I might well be able to make some wooden earrings; yes I could just buy some but that’s not quite the same as having them made for you by your Dad is it?

I’ve watched several YT Videos and it seems straightforward enough, though it will probably take me longer than someone with more experience
Near me an old mill has been converted into a base for artists & craft workers such as painting, leather work, carving, and jewellery.
I could just use the Videos, but it would be nice to have a first hand conversation and advice
So I’ll be going there today so see if I can pick a few brains

The Men’s Shed that we have just started already has a piece of work to do - repair a wooden sign for a local footpath
So I’m also going to B&Q to buy some screws & wood preserver treatment
Yes going to a wholesaler would probably be cheaper, but this is early days and we want to have something completed soon

Since I returned on Tuesday I’ve been living off odds & ends of food that were left in the fridge & freezer, & cans; so my last visit will be to a supermarket to stock up

You know the usual comment about retirement? – I don’t know how I had the time to go to work.

Good afternoon all! :cloud_with_rain:

The rain is forecast to arrive at any time now, the washing is safely in.
I managed to assemble my new bedside table without resorting to robust language, that’s probably a first :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

The Idea is to use greens, blues and greys to help me relax and induce a good night’s sleep :first_quarter_moon_with_face::zzz:
I have a set of three really nice real wax LED candles arriving tomorrow from Amazon.

The doggie portrait is of my friend’s lovely Bernese Mountain dog…

He’s usually pretty chilled out :dog::wink:
Have a good rest of the day people :+1:
