Good Morning Sunday, 8th June 2025

Good morning everyone on another cold and sunny winters day.

Was up early this morning despite the cold, went to the supermarket after breakfast about 7.30 am for essentials such as milk and cake. That is probably the most exciting thing that is going to happen to me today.

I did spend a few minutes drilling a hole in a tree in my garden and filling the hole with neat roundup, The tree is too close to the house in my opinion so I am trying to kill it. It is a Lilly Pilly which I count as a fruit tree (you don’t need council permission to remove a fruit tree).

King’s Birthday public holiday tomorrow so, for the workers, a very pleasant long weekend. Happy birthday King Charlie and all that.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Take care…

Good morning all!

A day of broken sunshine forecast for Sussex today. A vast improvement on yesterday’s weather! You do seem to have this thing about Charlie’s Birthday Bruce. Maybe you’ll be invited to the party next year  :crown:

Off to Brighton this morning with Chilli jnr…

We have a family get together planned and a nice restaurant has been booked. Must be on my best behaviour! :innocent:

Enjoy your Sunday forum people :+1:

The Sun is showing through again after the rain of yesterday. As thought, the kitchen alteration didn’t get finished yesterday and will continue today. I should have everything done in a few hours time. New fridge/freezer arriving tomorrow.

This job has let me know just how much muscle has gone over the last couple of years. Due to age and a known side effect of the pills I suppose. I’m still getting the stuff done but items that didn’t seem all that heavy a few years ago seem to have gained in weight.

Have good day everyone.

Morning – well the apocalypse didn’t happen yesterday – we did get a lot of rain but the promised hail, thunder, lightning and strong winds didn’t happen

Lovely sunny start to the day and we are told the weather will be improving over the coming week – hope so.

I could (should) go out and spray the weeds sprouting up through the paving slabs but as it is a day of rest I don’t want to upset the gardening gods (OK I am just too lazy!) The gardener is due tomorrow so I don’t want him to think I don’t trust him to do his job (is that excuse more acceptable?)

Take care – have a lovely day everyone

The weed scrubber mentioned in a previous ‘Good morning’ thread arrived and I think it works well in whisking away the weeds that come up in block paving gaps. The moss and dirt too . I don’t know how long the circular wire brush will last. I expect it will need replacing from time to time.

Morning Everyone, sun and cloud with a strong breeze suddenly springing up since I got back from my early walk. Rain forecast for later but I don’t care, it’s just another lazy Sunday and the red wine with with lunch will see me grabbing 40 winks later…
It’s one of those days where everything seems to be in slow motion. I scampered around my walk in good time, but it seems to have taken me ages to shower and have breakfast, and now look at the time…

Hmm I may have a word with the gardener tomorrow and ask him what he thinks. He currently uses something similar, basically a piece of metal attached to a pole, which isn’t powered so the one you have may make life easier (and quicker!)

Morning all.

Bright and sunny again down here by the seaside. Just come back from my morning breakfast fry-up. Wanted to go for a coffee afterwards, but the nearby shop got blatted with lightening, taking all the power out the surrounding area. So I’ll have to make do with some homemade instant stuff instead.

Not really sure what else I’m doing today, maybe go down to the seafront for a wander, check up on local swans with my bag of feed or sit here and tinker with my PC. Maybe watch a film or two.

Whatever you’re doing, have a great day…

I could do with a gap weeder/scrubber, battery-operated preferably, it’s so time-consuming and tiring doing it all manually. Takes me ages just to do a small area, so much more to do, still!

Good afternoon everyone by the way.. Getting hotter here, afternoon temperatures in 30s and still so much pollen around, no spending time outside until later, unless you want sunstroke, so I’ll catch up with my binge-watching. During these Summer months, I just love the mornings, having my breakfast out in the backyard. :bowl_with_spoon: :deciduous_tree:

Have a good Sunday all.

What! You don’t celebrate the birthday of your head of state! Are you mad?

We don’t get many public holidays in the second half of the year so we have to make the most of the ones we get. The next one is not until Labour Day in October then there is bugger all until Christmas.

I wish that there was a good excuse to move Australia Day to the second half of the year but no one has found it yet.

Enjoy your holiday regardless Bruce!

His real birthday is in November, though, but it would be too cold for Trooping the Colour.
As far as I know, the UK has never had a bank holiday for a monarch’s birthday or official birthday.

Why should it be so strange Bruce, that the UK don’t have a public holiday?
