Good Morning Sunday, 4th January 2026

Lovely and sunny this morning though the forecast is for a storm and rain later (desperately need the rain)

Went for my walk as usual this morning, not a long walk but it is always nice to be out, then I took advantage of the calm weather to fly my drone and test out a preprepared route for it using what they call “waypoints”. It worked OK but since then have developed it more. I have to say it is a lot of fun.

At the moment my drone controller is being charged but later I will send the drone up to retry the route I planned. It’s not exciting of itself but it gets me familiar with the way to do it and keeps me busy.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend only a couple of days before the 12 days of Christmas are over. Don’t the Wise Men arrive tomorrow?

Have fun. Take care…

Good morning everyone on this rainy, windy but very mild day. Temperatures have risen drastically. It was 15c at 6.30am, as opposed to 1C a few days ago, when I gave my daughter a lift into town to meet her friends who are also going back up North, after spending the festive period at home with family. Always sad to see her leave but she will be coming back for a long weekend at the end of February.

Yes @Bruce, the wise men visit tonight and we also have another tradition in Italian folklore, a witch-like old lady flying on a broomstick, known as the “Befana”, brings presents just like Santa Claus! Tomorrow 6th January is actually another national holiday here “Epifania” or Epiphany in English, the name you all may know it by.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Hi

Good Morning All.

Minus 2C here, more snow forecast for this afternoon.

A nice festive look.

I am having one of those if it can go wrong, it will times.

The latest being my elderly Henry Hoover, which has a snapped hose connection, amazingly cheap for a complete set of spares.

Amazon are being kept busy by yours truly.

The new phone is still going strong on it’s initial battery charge of 100%.

To maintain battery life, it is only going to be charged again when it reaches 20%left and then charged up to a maximum of 80%.

So much to learn about this new technology lark.

Have a great day all and stay safe.

Morning all…

Another cold and frosty day here in southern Hampshire. Just come back from my walk and saw the waterway where I feed my swan was frozen over with ducks, coots and other birds trying to get to the one point which had already thawed. Unfortunately, I ran out of feed and need to get some more.

As for today, I have no idea what the day will entail, I’m sure the wife will think of something. May go for a drive or something, possibly a walk on the beach if it warms up a little.

Have a great day…

 :+1: :snowflake:

Good morning - A sunny but cold day.

It might have been noted that I bought a Ring doorbell recently. It works with the Echo Dot and a smart phone but is not loud enough. I find it needs a ‘Ring Chime’ to go with it. This can be set to various volume levels and is not dependant on other devices to let you know someone is at the door. It makes it an expensive doorbell though.

Family will be visiting later. I think !'ll be able to be a bit more sociable today.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning all. Over 30cms of snow here and I still got an Amazon delivery yesterday. Couldn’t believe it.

Ay Up from South Yorkshire, looks like we dodged a bullet. After driving home in very cold but decent conditions on Friday, Scarborough was covered int’ snow yesterday.
No snow here yet but very cold minus 2 degrees C when I went off for my early morning walk.
I went out well before the sunrise but saw the moon going down over the frosty fields…
Sorry about the quality, I only took my old clamshell phone with me…

The moon is there honest, just above the small tree in the distance.
How about this one after I darkened it a little…

I didn’t fly my drone again yesterday arvo - a predicted thunderstorm storm arrived with its associated winds.

That is the problem with summer the heat causes these sudden storms, they might only last a few minutes but they are very windy and noisy the thunder started rumbling long before it actually arrived.

The annoying thing is that only 2mm of rain actually fell.

@mart , @scot37 and @OldGreyFox your pictures made me feel cold… Brrrrr… I don’t miss the English winter at all, not even for a second (I lived there in the winter of 1962/3). The one thing I do miss is the twilight, you don’t really get that here, it’s daylight then it is dark, those long twilights don’t happen.

When I first came to Australia in the 1960’s the only time I actually experienced homesickness (for the UK) was out walking one evening when for a few seconds (literally) there was an experience just like an English summer evening.
