Good Morning Sunday, 27th October 2024

Good morning to you all. After the definite cool of yesterday I have flung open all the doors and windows to try to warm up the house, it is supposed to get up to 26° today (22° at the moment).

I have nothing planned today, am already packed for my trip to Sydney tomorrow, though I might mow the lawn later however it is not urgent. Sunday is a day of rest after all.

Did think of linseed oiling my garden seat and still might, it is one of those jobs that has to be done occasionally

Will have to wait for the keys to arrive back from my son’s friend who used the flat on the weekend I hope it is not too late tonight

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, I know it is back to work tomorrow for some of you.

Enjoy your day…

Good morning everyone, I remembered yesterday that the clocks were going back but when I got up this morning at 6.30am (I thought!) I’d completely forgotten, until I opened my phone to check msges! I never would have slept an hour more anyway, a six-hour sleep is a victory for me
We’ll, it’s going to be a long day today.
At least it’s not foggy this morning and I have my daughter’s arrival on Wednesday to look forward to. She’ll be coming over for a long weekend, going back on Sunday. Being a Catholic country, the 1st November - All Saints’ Day - is a National holiday here and it happens to be on a Friday this year.

I had a heart checkup the other day with a new cardiologist that my G. P. recommended, my hypertension’s being playing up again  Quite expensive but he did all the tests, including others I’ve never had before, and changed my medication. He’s recommended a
Cardiac Stress Rest but I’m a bit weary, apart from the fact that I’ve never used a treadmill before  I said I’d think about it and then call to make an appointment.
Anyone ever had one of those tests?

Have a good Sunday everyone, did all UK forum members remember to turn back their clocks? :grinning: :clock2:

Morning all – bright sunny day today – top temperature forecast at 14c

Feey don’t you have family or a friendly neighbour who would let you use their shower!! If not I suggest you stay away from people!!

Clocks went back early this morning – over the years we collected quite a large number of clocks, most of which don’t change automatically, went around changing them all then sat with a cup of coffee congratulating myself that I hadn’t forgotten any (even remembered the one on the oven and the one on the microwave!), glanced at my watch – yep I hadn’t changed it! I have never worked out how to change the one in the car so it will either be wrong for 6 months or I may ask my friendly neighbour if he can do it! :woman_shrugging:

Brother in law called in yesterday afternoon – it was good to see him looking so well (he has health problems). We discussed my recent various disasters in the house and then I mentioned I wanted my ceilings redone (embarrassed to say they are artex – ugh). He said he knows someone who he could recommend and who isn’t too expensive, so that is on the list for early next year.

Will take advantage of the good weather and get the sheets laundered and on the line – apart from that not a lot planned for today

Take care – have a lovely day

Good morning - A bright and sunny day. I’ve just been around the house adjusting clocks and watches for the winter hours. I didn’t really feel like getting up. I’m sure the pills are affecting my ‘get up and go’ levels. Slept through yesterday afternoon and the night. Most unusual.

Not much to do today. I don’t know if the family will visit again. They were here yesterday but I knew nothing of it. One son has brought me a huge Cornish Pasty from where he has been working in the West Country. I hope I can do it justice later.

Have a good day

Good morning!
Bright, sunny, clear, and not too cold

Firstly, a report on yesterday’s activities -

I caught the bus to Colne, but found out the town centre was closed for a Halowe’en event; thus there were diversions and traffic jams, and a temporary bus stop which resulted in a longer walk into the town centre
There were a couple of minor fairground attractions like merry go rounds & ghost walks, but mostly it was a lot of market stalls selling food & general tat (who me, a cynic?), though they were all decorated appropriately, and some visitors came wearing costumes & make up

I called on my friend on his market stall then went to Nelson and picked up my repaired amplifier; then home
I was completely worn out and spent much of the afternoon dozing under the duvet - obviously I haven’t fully recovered yet

Got up quite early changed the clocks & my watch, and felt better
I have a few jobs to do, but nothing that can’t wait a few days, so as it’s a nice day and I’ve been cooped up for ages I’l have a brunch and then a stroll into town – and see if I survive that!

I’m afraid my boast about remembering to change all the clocks was premature! I have several timer switches for lights around the house and totally forgot about them!

I did exactly the same thing when the clocks went forward at the beginning of the month, co-incidentally corrected the last timer about an hour ago.

I’ve never seen so many people milling around our little ‘Quiet’ village as there were last night as we walked down to the canal towpath to watch a flotilla of boats all dressed up for halloween with lights a plenty, and zombies and pirates everywhere. It was a good job we were on foot, there were cars abandoned everywhere, and it was even worse and totally gridlocked when it was time to go home. Apparently last year (the first one) there were just twenty boats, but this year word must have got round and there were over fifty and it took over two hours to get them all through. The lift bridge remained open throughout to let the procession through, which didn’t go down well with some motorists…
Videos taken on the phone didn’t come out too bad, but I can’t post them on here, so you’ll have to make do with my amateur photography camera shots…Most of them were rubbish…
:flushed: Where’s realspeed when you need him?

Still got a few clocks to do but I couldn’t resist this picture of falling leaves while setting off for my walk this morning …A bit cold for shorts, but a very nice quiet sunny Sunday morning.
That’s Roberts residence at the other side of the green on the right…Behind the garage…

Good morning from shiny Florida! Looking at the global radar map, it seems that most everyone on the forum is enjoying beautiful weather!

My son announced heading over after an instrument training flight this afternoon, which means my revised plan for the day to to the grocery store to empty the shelves before cooking the lot of it to fill him up. We will either head to the trails for some cycling or kayak into the estuary a mile or so down river.

You have some very clever neighbors, @OGF! Beautiful! The flotillas here are limited to Christmas and Independence Day, and I have alays wondered what systems people use for the illumination - inverters, generators, batteries…

Happy traveling, resting, and spending time with family.

You’re right about the weather @Surfermom, we have had a Summer’s day today, warm sunshine, temperatures reached 27C this afternoon ! I sat in the sun for a good dose of Vitamin D to stock up for the winter
Sadly it’s already dark and it’s only 5.30pm, difficult to get used to the time change.

And all of this brought to you through the invention of extremely low power consumption LED’s most of which would be impossible with incandescent lighting Surfermom. Probably produced using a standard 12 volt car battery and inverter.

Sorry it’s wet and miserable. On the other hand the rain is what makes Ireland so beautiful :grinning:
