I don’t think I’ll mention our weather today.
Woolies were an hour late so gave us $5.
Which I will spend on some lightly fruited cake,so they’ll get it back.ASAP
Hi
Good Morning All.
The height of Summer here, a chilly 12C this morning.
Just having my coffee with my 13 breakfast medicines, I rattle a lot, then my 20 mins on the stationary leg exerciser, then feeding the fish, they get fed 3 times a day, the corals twice daily, with the larger ones each being target fed with defrosted plankton etc with a turkey baster.
Very entertaining to see their mouths open and close.
Apart from that, a boring TV day, soccer has started again.
Have a great day all.
Morning all
Looks like its going to be a warm and sunny day here. Today, we are off to a ye olde medieval jousting festival, which appears to be one of the biggest around. Never been to it before, but it looks like a golden photo opportunity with knights in armour, sword fights and cosplays in period costume, and loads of other stuff.
Naturally, can’t take a single pic without my daily coffee, so we’ll be stopping on the way for a quick breakfast.
Bid ye good morrow…
Good morning everyone!
Really fascinating @Bruce, for us Western World inhabitants, hearing you say that night temperatures dropped to low/mid 20s in the middle of Winter! We had those temperatures last week when our Summer heat suddenly turned cool.
Not envious of all that rain, though!
A few weeks ago I noticed two new wild oregano bushes growing on our property, in a particular spot where they’d never grown before, they have just suddenly popped up this year.
A stroke of luck because the other bushes we had further down, had been destroyed by accident during the grass-cutting.
I harvested some today. I’m leaving it to dry for about a week and then I will crumble it all and it will be ready to be put in jars.
Definitely sounds like a chilly morning @swimfeeders with temperature so low this time of year.
That medieval festival sounds great @Graham, have fun!
Have a good Sunday all.
Good morning all!
The latest mini heatwave has well and truly kicked in.
The young basil plants very much appreciating all the extra sunshine…
That freshly picked oregano looks delicious Rose, bet it smells wonderful too! We’re just seeing to a few domestic chores first thing before heading out to The Shades for a couple of drinks and then off to ASDA for supplies for the coming week.
Have a sunny Sunday people!
Good morning, we are off to sell at a car boot sale shortly. It’s a later one starts at 11 a.m. for sellers. Buyers come in at 1 p.m. Last time we did well, got rid of a lot of t… good stuff. LOL
Hopefully it will be good today too. Have a great day in the sun everyone.
That’s my son in Darwin, it is the middle of the dry season up there they are only 1400km or so from the Equator. The temperature there is 32/33° all year round, the only difference is the wet season is, well, wet. He is staying up there, has bought a block of land and will build a house next year. I am dead jealous!
Where I live in winter it gets down to 10° sometimes to single digits. If I was rich I would buy a house up there and spend the dry season there and summer down here.
Morning all – sunny day today and we are, apparently, due for another heatwave!
I was late putting out the bird feed this morning and there were about 30 birds lined up on the wall waiting (makes mental note – must try harder!)
Latest “you couldn’t make it up news”. A local council had delayed opening a new road safety project because – wait for it – they couldn’t cut back the trees due to a pigeon nesting there!!! Now I can understand if it was some rare or endangered species, but a pigeon?
Not much planned for today, my weekly visit to the cemetery and then perhaps a little housework (in the unlikely event I feel energetic!) or more likely back to my book
Take care – have a lovely day
Good Afternoon Everyone…
About 17 degrees C when I set off for my Sunday walk, but it was well into the 20’s when I returned about an hour later. I felt surprisingly good considering I went to bed with a hot lemon last night with not feeling so good all day. I thought I had caught Mrs Fox’s cold, but everything seems to be in order this morning.
There is something going round though, with quite a few people we know down with sore throats and coughs.
Seems a bit strange people suffering with flu like symptoms in August…
As if these temperatures weren’t high enough, there are now bush fires going on at this very moment, not far away from us!
Fire brigade are at work, my son called them but they had just been called by someone else in our neighborhood.
Luckily it’s not windy but for a few minutes, ashes were being blown our way. The smoke is already in the air around us, our windows are blinds are already all shut anyway, to keep the sun out .
The problem is that there are areas which are unaccessible by road and I can’t hear any helicopters or Canadairs approaching.
Probably because there are no houses in the the immediate vicinity and it’s not too widespread.
Still, it’s sad to watch beautiful green scenery burning.
Not far from the equator? OK, I get it now!
Yes Chilli, it does smell great!
Your basil is looking good, I bet it smells and tastes wonderful! You have the “smooth leaf” variety which is known to be much tastier and more aromatic than “curly leaf” basil (the one I have) , and it’s ideal for pesto!
In fact I recently bought another plant - smooth leaf variety this time.
H, All, we certainly sold a lot of Lego, cuddy toys & other items. Was hot but a breeze helped make it feel cooler. We took just over £200 so worth going.
Hope they can get it under control soon Rose…
I hope you have got your emergency kit prepared. It is too late when there is an emergancy
Winds are fickle things
That’s a good idea…
Years ago I had a few garage sales but I don’t know what you’d do to advertise them now, it used to be free in the local paper. I guess it would be Facebook now.
I could still see some smoke coming out above the hills last night but it’s all over now, at last!
If it had been windy like it was a couple of days ago, I don’t even want to imagine!!!
We’ve had fires practically right next door to us in the past, on a piece of abandoned land, full of dried tall weeds and thorn bushes (fire hazards!) and the owner (inherited property) never bothers to get it cleaned up!
