Good morning Saturday 4th March 2023

Morning all!

It’s back to overcast again. On the good side, maybe my neighbor will not play loud music on Saturday. On the bad side, it’s feeling bleak again.

Besides talking on the phone, plans for today are on hold until the weather plays out.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning all.

Cold and raining at the moment.

Off out this morning for my usual Saturday stroll around the shops.

Have a nice day all.

Good Morning all, grey and gloomy here too.

Might pop up Farmfoods later and look for some bargains. Son coming over tonight, we’ll get takeaway pizza…. his favourite

Hope you have a peaceful, music free day Butterscotch and enjoy your Saturday stroll SJ

Have a good one everyone who comes in next xx

Good morning all

Today I’m off to a farmers market in town with my sister .

Enjoy your weekend xx

Hi

Good Morning all.

A very grey cold day here.

I have ordered a mega full English Breakfast for delivery.

Thought I would give myself a present, first one in almost 3 years.

Apologies to Ripple.

Have a good day all.

Morning everyone, dull and dry here again but frost and snow forecast for next week they say, brrr…

Just back from walking in the forest, and enjoying a cuppa and half an hour on here before deciding what’s next. Apart from cooking omelette and chips for lunch I have some jet washing to do to clean up the patio, so I’ll probably do that this afternoon.

Enjoy the day folks.

Good morning!

Another dull but dry day here
I’m going to Sainsbury soon for a bit of shopping - oddly enough! - and to collect my prescription from Lloyds Pharmacy

I want some new trainers, and Sports Direct is on the same retail park so I’ll have a look in there
If they don’t have anything I like I’ll go on to have a look at Boundary Mill, a large discount store

Dangerous waters there Swimmy, what’s that old saying about “a heart attack on a plate” :flushed:

Having said that though, there’s that other old saying “All things in moderation”, so enjoy…

Hi

Thanks for that Barry.

I do stick to the foods I am allowed, which includes one treat a month.

When I do have my one treat I have two capsules to take and these block saturated fat from being absorbed.

well yet another year passing by. 51 years ago I was getting married and it doesn’t seem all that time passed so quickly

Happy Anniversary Speedy… :champagne::clinking_glasses:

Didn’t the shoes from Pete Bland sports work out Zuludog?
I’ve had the same problem trying to buy a new pair of running/walking shoes.
I bought a pair of New Balance 860 v9’s a couple of years ago from a small sports shop in Ireland while on holiday. They have been excellent, very sturdy and supportive, albeit a little heavy at 340 grams, and heavy on the wallet at just over £100…I was even prepared to order a new pair on the internet (which I never do) but I can’t get them for love nor money. They stopped doing the v9’s and now we are on to the v13’s… They are so different, and I’m not going to risk buying them online.
So its either Sports Direct, or JD sports and have to put up with assistants who don’t know their ass from their elbow, and the ear shattering music…Mostly rap… :open_mouth:
I’m going to have to go to ‘Junction 32’ a retail park just off the M62 where there is a Nike and Adidas shop. Either that, or the ‘Complete Runner’ at Otley, a specialist running shop where the only thing bigger than their range of running shoes are the eye watering prices…

Good morning all, just.

Been busy, doing various bits and pieces. The dog wanted lots of play which I had to do inbetween what I was trying to do, lol.

Got washing out to dry. Some in garden, some indoors, so will keep a check on the weather. Didn’t find it as cold this morning as yesterday. I refused the last dog walk of the night as was too cold. I let her in the garden and she held out till about 8.30, 9, when I took her this morning.

Finished all my admin, number crunching, dividing cash up for payments forthcoming, updating my library loans, ordered my repeat meds, so now free for whatever. I have food out to defrost, which includes Chinese takeaway for this evening, an uncooked portion of meat loaf for tomorrow, and some bread pud.

So. Shall I pop out somewhere? Or stay at home and get back into the library book. Hmmm.

Happy Anniversary Speedy.

Swimmers, how are your Fish? We had two Guppy’s die this week.

Hello there!

It’s been busy few weeks with still more to come.

Kids are doing their thing in the house somewhere, and I’m trying to do some long overdue catch up work.

Only did one training session this week but still clocking up those steps. Remember last year when I initially joined (May 22), I was over a stone heavier, and a hell of a lot more down about work. How things have changed.

Have got my CV up and running again, as I believe it’s time for me to look at pastures new. I absolutely enjoy teaching, but may look at more pastoral role/mentorship role in the very near future.

Have a good one!

Good Afternoon!

I’ve taken a little trip to Asda earlier this morning, picked up some Quaker Rolled Oats, pumpkin and sunflower seeds and some extra Demerara sugar .

Homemade biscuits here we come!

OLD GREY FOX –

A few things happened together -

I know that shoe size is just a guide, but nevertheless for years I took a 10,5 to 11 and was happy enough
However, as we get older our feet expand, so I didn’t really know my current size
As I’ve got older my legs & knees have become a bit more achy & wobbly
Just recently my trainers have all worn out at about the same time

So I wanted some new trainers that would be better quality and fit better than the usual cheap stuff
I live in Burnley, and there are no decent local sports shops so much against my own advice I bought a pair of Saucony trainers Online from Pete Bland Sports
They were size 11,5 and I thought that would be OK, but no, I could wear them, but they were just a bit tight across the toes

So I went to Sports Direct - Huh! - a very large range, but not very well laid out and the assistants were just about the most bored and uninterested you could imagine.
Yes, I know it’s a discount store, but they just stood chatting to themselves and not offering any help at all
I tried on a couple of pairs, didn’t like them, then remembered Boundary Mill near Colne, so I tried there

Much better; although it too is a discount store it is well laid out with some decent makes, and although I didn’t get personal service, the assistant was pleasant, helpful, and after a bit of discussion she offered some advice, and then I served myself, which was perhaps easier
Most running shoes are narrow - ish across the toes - well I’d started to realise that myself - so she recommended Asics - interestingly, that is the make of both my old pairs

So I’ve bought two pairs of Asics trainers while I found some that fit - they are sized mainly by the US sizes, with a confusing selection of UK, EU, and other sizes on the list
But this time I chose them by the fit, and got a US size 13 /EUR 48 and a US 14/EUR 49 - it all depends on actually trying them on

I also bought from Boundary some ankle length diabetic socks - I do have diabetes - sized UK 12-14/US 13 - 15/EUR 46 - 50 and they are a good fit, I wouldn’t want them any smaller

I should point out that there is nothing wrong with Pete Bland Sports, it’s my own fault for not trying shoes on
Their prices can be high, but I got some Saucony in their sale for £62-50
My Asics were £59-20 & £62-40

If you ever go to the Lake district you could call at Pete Bland in Kendal and New Balance factory shop in Shap

Hi

I have been in hospital a lot recently, so they have suffered somewhat.

The lady who looks after them has not been around a lot, her young daughter has been ill.

It is mostly the tetras and platies now,I will post photos next week xx

Sorry to here about your Fish Swimmers, could you not give them a Food block when you have to go into Hospital?

I have use the same boots now and in my fourth pair. I think they are excellent - I’d wear them to bed if my wife would allow it…
