Good morning to you all an this hot sunny day. Apparently we are going to experience a heat wave for a few days with temperatures 10 to 12° higher than average for the time of year, however there is a southerly change coming early next week.
My son and his wife returned from a couple of days in Sydney without the kids, not sure when they are going home to Canberra, presumably tomorrow but that is not for sure yet.
Took the dog out for a walk while my grandkids were out getting their hair cut, boy it was hot. the dog didn’t seem to care. I am always worried about it burning its feet especially on the bitumen but she chooses to walk on the hard surface rather than the cooler grass a few centimetres way.
Actually the heat is modified by quite a breeze which makes walking quite pleasant, At the moment it is only 26° but I feel like a cold shower might be just the job soon.
Anyway must get on while it is quiet, will get the clothes off the line, they dry in an hour or so at this time of year.
Hope you get to enjoy your weekend especially the workers out there.
Good day! Evening hours here, but thought I’d pop in. Enjoying fall weather here and reminiscing of the hot summers here reading @Bruce 's post. I’ve been scouting several dog forums looking for potential adoptions. I came the realization now isn’t the right time financially, but dogs are so darn cute!
I’m super glad its Friday here. Looking forward to the weekend. Wishing everyone a good day and weekend!
Good morning - Grey skies, ground frost and a temperature of 0ºC at 9.30 A.M. Some snow is forecast for the southern counties but not very much before it turns to rain. More long-lasting snow will fall further north according to the weather forecast. Typical of the UK weather, a temperature of 13ºC is expected tomorrow before it turns cold again on Monday.
Morning all – below freezing again last night and not forecast to get much above freezing all day – also sleet or snow forecast for later
The beast once again refused to leave the house – but at least she isn’t hiding her little presents! Her regular servants rang last night and said I should just put her out but I refuse to put any animal out into freezing temperatures even if they do have a fur coat!
Nothing exciting planned for today – this morning a visit to the cemetery to collect the Christmas wreath from my husband’s grave then back home to some housework.
Just slightly over freezing here in South Yorkshire 1 degree C but still plenty of ice around on the roads and paths. Still not walking yet but might try a couple of miles tomorrow morning. I could do with going out on the bike, but there’s no way I’m going cycling in the cold, my central heating isn’t what it used to be…
Snow is forecast for later but I don’t think we will get any here, it’s coming from the wrong direction and Sheffield and the high moors will get our share.
Out for a nice long drive to a garden centre for lunch now, daughter and hubby aren’t coming for tea tonight because she doesn’t like driving in the snow…Pah! The weatherman has put the fear of God into her…
All those rather hysterical weather warnings haven’t come to pass, suprise, suprise.
I’m taking down the Christmas tree, cooking some tasty morsels and making a hell of a mess in the lounge!
Good fine morning …make that afternoon from sunny Florida!
My son and his friends popped by early this morning on their way to some outing, just as I was moving plants indoors in anticipation of the lengthy forecast for freezing temperatures next week. They offered right away to help me move the bougainvillea, travelers’ palms, and ferns indoors, so took them up on their offer to move the heaviest ones. That fine effort was exchanged with the offer of a meal, so despite much of the floors looking like yours, @Chilliboot, I reported to the stove and oven to whip up a quiche, salad, soup, and bread as a quid pro quo. All parties were delighted with the “deal.”
After the guys left, sweeping up the fern fronds led to other cleaning activities until the base trim was clean, which lead to the exterior of all the cabinets, which lead to cleaning out the microwave, which led to cleaning the oven, so I can now sit down with a g
My son and I went down a rabbit hole of conversation about my dad’s lengthy adventures flying in Antarctica during the first construction of research bases down there in the late '50s. Now we are fairly seriously planning to go on now of the expedition cruises that crosses the Drake channel and offers overnight camping on the peninsula. I feel like we need to get on with these things before my body starts rebelling against my brain.
I don’t know what it is about dogs, but they seem to endure extremes better than we do. I know their temperatures are higher, but I wonder there is something different about their pressure and temperature-sensing cells, despite damage, like burning pads, being done.
Enough of my mins wandering off with the dogs…have a good rest of your day! .
