Good morning happy forum folks, it is another lovely sunny winter’s day. Only a couple of days before spring arrives.
I spent some of the morning throwing clothes into the washing machine and then getting them on the line. I realised that next weekend is when my daughter and I are supposed to take off on my adventure across the Simpson Desert (assuming the road is open). I want to make sure I have a decent selection of clothes available to take - well, a good selection of T shirts, undies and shorts anyway, I have a list!
Tomorrow I will go early to the supermarket to buy cheese slices, biscuits, rice and the like to take with me. I had a bit of a clear out of the pots and pans I carry with me, having decided that some never get used. Am down to two small cast iron fry pans and one sauce pan with a steamer basket.
Today’s fun and games involves a fried brekky and coffee, take the wife for an eye test and down to a hotel for Afternoon Tea which was payment for a photoshoot I did a while back. Probably end up on the seafront watching cruise ships go past and a wander along the beach if the weather holds up.
Bank holiday weekend and it’s raining - the first wet bank holiday we’ve had this year i think, so we haven’t done too badly.
I’m not complaining though - it’s nice to see everything coming back to life after our ‘drought’.
Lots going on here this weekend, although visitor numbers will be down due to the weather, no doubt, but still an enjoyable bank holiday ahead for many, including myself.
Just domestic chores today , nothing high octane going on!
I had a roll of film delivered today, tungsten balanced, very fast. This means under daylight the pictures will a have a chill blue/cyan cast. I’m seriously looking forward to taking some trips out during The Autumn and experimenting, probably moody early morning and dusk shots, churchyards and interiors, that’s just for starters.
Yesterday as I was at the counter paying for my lunch with a gal friend, one of two men was staring at me. I noticed, said “You look familiar. Do I know you?” He said many people say he looks like someone else. He then began sharing an episode of hitchhiking when he was 18 in Nevada. Said the guy who picked him up thought he was a ghost of his dead brother, looks and all.
Then, the other man asked me if I knew a guy from my hometown, after asking if I lived there most of my life. Well, I knew him all right…no details here, but he dated a friend of mine while he was married. Anyway, I said he was quite a character. The guy at the counter laughed and agreed.
Heading back to my seat, my gal pal was grinning ear to ear. She said she expected one of them to ask for my phone number, as they were totally into entertaining me!
So, today, I’m enjoying being “hit on” yesterday, and looking forward to what today brings. I’m off to the casinos…ka-ching!
