To be honest I forget where the book came from but the red and yellow reels are a left over from when I used to fish on nightshift in the inlet canal of the local power station that I worked at. You could guarantee a large bream for breakfast, in fact if you didn’t catch something in the first minute or two then you probably might as well give up because nothing was biting. If the prawns were running then it was all hands on deck getting the prawns, we would often fill a couple of garbage bins with them - even the office staff got a kilo each.
I have couple of rods that came with this house when I bought it 45 years ago. I often see the same type advertised on Ebay as “Vintage Rods”. I have never used them.
While I was out shopping this morning I called into the grog shop, to buy some wine, I need to educate my pallet. They had single cans of Guinness on special at $4 each so I bought one to try (plus a bottle of Ginger Wine). I was put off dark/stout beer by Old beer in pubs it was far too sweet for me so I never tried Guinness - that is not to say it still won’t get poured down the sink but I am making the effort.
However after checking The National Rail Journey Planner most of this morning’s train have been cancelled. I don’t want to actually arrive at lunchtime so we’ll go during the week instead.
Yep… it’s amazing what you find when you have a bit of a rummage Bruce. I’m going to be sorting out my fishing/camping/outdoor cupboard this weekend, no doubt I’ll find some interesting bits and pieces
WHAT!!! Never tried Guinness? They say it’s an acquired taste. I prefer the Foreign Extra stuff, full of flavour although at 7.5 % it’s not one for guzzling!
Morning all – a bit overcast at the moment, we have even had some rain but sun and temperatures of 25c forecast for later
Had a couple visit yesterday wanting me to sign up to make regular donations to a charity. The conversation went something like this:
Them: do you know the survival rate of women with breast cancer
Me: Yes, I have had it. I have also volunteered for several years with a national cancer charity for which I raised thousands of pounds. I was also instrumental in setting up a local support group for women undergoing treatment
Good Morning from Foxy’s world…
Yep, it’s Tesco day…
Instead of the usual Saturday lunch at a garden centre, Mrs Fox and me will take a wander down to the local church hall where there will be a Strawberry tea with locally made scones and plenty of gossip…
Supposed to be getting up to 27 degrees C today so it should be quite pleasant…
I wanted to get some things done before the temperature got to high. Rescued a fence panel that was bound for the skip. I reckon it has a few more years in it so mended and put wood preserver on. Rearranged the garden so it doesn’t look quite so much like a builders yard. Lots of lifting stuff around that I shouldn’t be doing but doing it anyway.
The new garden building isn’t going well. I think we have the wrong plans and it isn’t as modular as we’d hoped for. More just much wood, panels and other bits and pieces. I’m going to get on to the manufacturers on Monday. The builders reckon they can build it how they think it should be. I have faith in them to do so. It’s an interest I suppose.
We’re expecting family round later to take away our old fridge and our old chest freezer. That ought to give us a bit more room.
