It was warm and humid last night, didn’t get below 21° so it was hard to sleep. Today is supposed to be about 30° but there is always the chance of a thunderstorm later this arvo after any hot day.
Had my walk of course, lovely and sunny out, not much traffic on a Saturday morning but a fair few walkers.
I do envy @OldGreyFox having a canal to walk beside.
Have discovered that one of the disadvantages of my new eye is that without my glasses I can see dust, grass etc on the floor all of which was invisible to me before, I seem to spend a lot more time sweeping the floors
Grief, that is a long, straight road Bruce. I’m sure we don’t have anything quite like that in West Sussex!
I very much doubt this one in Charlwood will be as quiet when the new runway is built at Gatwick Airport
Despite being a bit of a Doubting Thomas yesterday the new vintage 200mm lens was delivered on time, in very good order too.
Working front of house today at the stadium. I’ll be endeavouring to keep the regulars happy and in good humour. Can’t do the winning Donny Osmond smile thing…
Morning all – still not got used to UK time and weather – am definitely missing the Australian sunshine!
Something to make you all smile (or think it is time I booked into a home for the bewildered). The day after I got back I needed to stock up on groceries, picked up keys, closed the front door, went to unlock the porch door only to find I had picked up the wrong keys and was locked in the porch! I rang my neighbours only to be told they were several miles away at a shopping centre. They discussed my situation (after laughing!) and decided the wife would drive back to rescue me and the husband would continue with the shopping and get the bus home! I was stuck in the porch for 30 minutes!
Since then I have been busy catching up with friends and trying to stay awake after 8.30 pm!
Weather looks a bit uncertain outside here on the south coast. Today is meet up with my sister in law for lunch, chance for the wife to catch up on family gossip. Before that, time for my daily walk and buy some more swan feed.
Yesterday, I went to feed the swans in the local waterway and they were sat up on the bank. They saw me and next thing I know they waddled up right next to me and I’m stood there feeding them by hand. These birds are incredibly tame and used to people, which is a concern becuase they are vulnerable to someone who could hurt them in some way. Whilst in the water, they are at least out of ordinary reach. Plus there is a main road close by and they could wander into traffic. I will probably concentrate on feeding the geese for a while, as I could make them dependant.
a milder day today , good for a walk and see what’s beginning to shoot in the garden ,
March next weekend , life is speeding by, No plans for today , looking forward to my next Theatre Trip on Thursday , a Murder Mystery, previously seen on TV.
Good Morning from a sunny South Yorkshire…
It’s a pity it’s a rest day with just the Tesco to do and then finding a nice garden centre for lunch.
I bet it will be raining for tomorrows walk…Sods law innit…
As a runner I used to love these long roads, I could eat them up in ten minutes, I could just knock the brain out of gear and let it wonder where it will, these days it would take me half a day to cover that distance, but the brain would still be disengaged…
Canals with towpaths make excellent walks Bruce, I used to pass over the Chesterfield canal many times as a courier and always wondered what it would be like to follow it.
My wish came true once I retired.
I used to follow a lot of these canal dwellers on YouTube but in the main they have all moved off the canals into houses. The only one who still occasionally travels on the canals is Cruising the Cut.
It would not be a life for me, 4.5mph is no way to travel - and all those locks? No!
In my foolish youth I used to know a girl who lived in a narrow boat (I think it was, anyway it was boat) on the Thames somewhere in London - the exact whereabouts are lost in the mists of time.
I don’t think she ever moved from her mooring but as the tide went in and out there was a time when the boat was floating a tiny bit above the bottom. Any passing boat created waves which meant the boat hit the bottom with a jar, it was OK when the tide was higher and OK when the boat was sitting on the bottom but four times a day this happened, I don’t know how she put up with it.
