Good Morning Saturday, 16th November 2024

Good morning to you all on this lovely Canberra morning - 30’ at the moment.

Absolutely still full went to a local club last night for a meal which was lovely but far too much.

As usual took the dog for his walk while it was still early and a bit misty, He liked a new environment, there is another dog here but she is a big Labrador and too much for me to handle now.

At 8am we all set off for a breakfast at a trendy Canberra breakfast place (ie expensive) followed by family day at my daughter’s workplace open day. Unfortunately I am not allowed to tell you anything about it, even the guides and quizzes we were given had to be handed back at the end of the visit.

All I can say is that I enjoyed the visit very much and that it was most interesting. hey even laid on free food.

Now I am back at her house resting, There was a lot of walking involved, big building.

This evening we .are ordering pizza I think probably not your Pizza Hut or Domino’s, I shall be on a diet when I return home.

Have a great weekend whatever you are up to. Take care…

Good morning all!

A day of doing domestic stuff at home for me. My agency has a new contract with a client and offered me the job which I accepted. It means getting up at around 02:30 for an early start, I’ve just about adapted to the new routine :astonished: I’ve got some catching up to do.

Chilli jnr is still snoozing in his room and I’ve just ordered a new steam iron from Amazon. Heaven forbid that I should be seen about town displaying my wrinkles in front of all and sundry!

Have a mellow day forum people :+1:

Morning all – dull grey cold day forecast :cloud:

Glad you arrived safely Bruce (although the journey sounds horrendous)

Had a bit of a problem when I went in to feed the beast last night – no lights were on :bulb: (neighbour usually has them on a timer), as I walked in almost stepped on the cat. The light switches are in a different place to those in my home so after some stumbling about in the dark found one. Sorted the beast for the night and when I returned home emailed the neighbours, received a reply that they had set the lamps to switch on but had forgotten to put them to automatic! :person_shrugging: Fortunately they were able to rectify that remotely (no I don’t understand how) so the lights should be on when I go in tonight (but I may take a torch with me just in case :flashlight:)

The beast refused to go out again this morning – neighbours tell me I should just kick her out, can’t bring myself to do that! Yes she has been wrapped around her paw! :smiley_cat:

Not going out today, have some housework to do and a parcel is due to be delivered.

Take care – hope everyone has a great day

Good morning - A repeat of last week’s birthday party today because the other half of the family are back from holidaying abroad. Not keen at the moment but that’s the way it is.

Mrs mart had a hospital appointment for some work on her back yesterday (involves burning some nerve ends). One trouble was that it wasn’t the local hospital. I’m not up to driving just yet so our friend drove us there.

It was a 3.00 p.m. appointment but Mrs mart wasn’t discharged until 8.00 p.m. A heck of a lot hanging about for me and the friend but not Mrs mart’s fault. The surgeon just had a very full list.

A last minute panic before leaving the house for the appointment. The open/close valve on my nephrostomy bag kept going to the ‘open’ position with the result one might expect. Overcome but needs looking into.

Not a good day for us all in all. I hope today we forget all that. Wishing everyone has a good one.

Morning Everyone, and glad Bruce made it to Canberra despite the traffic. It’s sometimes like that here just getting to the next village only five miles away… :astonished:
BT (or at least contractors on their behalf) are doing a lot of work locally replacing copper cable with new Fiber stuff…They’ve got roads up everywhere or blokes sitting on top of poles…
Taking Mrs Fox and her friend to a Christmas Fair at a garden centre we go to, I just like their pies…

Good quick morning from Chicago!

We started the retirement celebration in New Orleans, LA and the hotel management somehow knew about it and gave us a top floor suite. Very lovely and enjoyable. We spent the afternoon and city in the French Quarter before flying all day yesterday. More on all that later, but here’s a round photos from the first evening.

Antoines, famous French restaurant that has been its original location since 1840.

Outside looking in at Antoines.

Window shopping.

Corner restaurant and shops near Jackson Square. People line the balconies and toss beads during Mardi Gras festivities.

Many buildings have hidden gardens behind them. A majority are now bistros.

Our Thursday night dining table.

The back of St. Louis cathedral in the square

View of the Mississippi River from the room.

Paddle boats in the distance.

I hope you all have a nice weekend!

It was quite an enjoyable evening, and the table was a surprise! Alas, aside from some bubbles for me, nary a bottle was uncorked for my light-drinking clan.

It’s a little gritty as cities go, but it has some very unique features. If you look at it through rose-colored glasses (pun intended ) then it’s quite an interesting place.

I loved it too :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:/

In fact, this city has always fascinated me because of it being the birthplace of jazz and if I’m not mistaken also rhythm&blues, which I suppose are both the roots of different types of music throughout the decades until modern times: blues, Dixieland, soul, rock, pop and so on.

Beautiful Photos Surfer, New Orleans looks like a well lived in place. I particularly liked the view from your room…
I wonder what was on the menu of that fabulous restaurant…
You certainly get about, and thanks for taking the time to think of us…
:hugs:

Isn’t everyone buried above ground in New Orleans because of the high water table? (something like that)
