Good Morning Saturday, 14th June 2025

Good morning to all who follow, Had about 1mm of rain overnight (don’t need it, don’t want it) and this morning the sky clouds over occasionally but no daytime rain yet.

It is the weekend… Yay!

It is cold… Boo!

Maximums in the mid to high teens only… More Boos.

I spent part of the morning writing to my (new) local MP complaining about the fact that soft plastics are all going to landfill. It really is a disgrace.

Once I had completed my letter and printed it out I then worked on the VBA in Word to improve the way it saved my correspondence. Probably a bit of a waste of time because I write about one or two letters a year these days but it keeps me busy.

That’s my Saturday morning done and dusted.

Enjoy your weekend

Take care…

Good morning Bruce and all forumers. I’m enjoying the coolness of the morning at the moment, a fresh 20c before we reach high 30s again later, yesterday afternoon we hit 37c in town, a bit less out in the country where I live, but it doesn’t make that much difference. At least we don’t have high humidity yet which will make the scorching heat unbearable. :flushed:
So much to do here still, I got my electric grass trimmer out yesterday morning, but I only managed to trim down some weeds near the shed, so I can at least gain access to the door! It isn’t a good tool to get work done out in the fields and the mechanical grass cutter is too complicated and heavy for me. Only a tractor can do all that cleaning up, like my husband used to do. So at the end of the month I’ll just call our friend, the 'tractor guy" who will run down everything with the shredder attachment.
This morning I need to clean the outdoor exhaust pipe of my firewood heater, this is quite easy but I can’t do the chimney, you won’t catch me on the roof, and my son gets a bit dizzy too so I won’t ask him to do it, I’ll just call the chimney sweep. I have to try and free my lemon tree from a passion-flower vine which is insisting on attacking it! :grimacing: I can see little lemon buds, I want to try and save this tree from being devoured! Any work has to be done early in the morning, it gets too hot already at 10 o’clock!
I may seem like I’m complaining but I’m not really, I actually prefer this heat to those boring, terrible Spring months of cold and rain we had , when it should have been much warmer and sunnier. I’m always up at 5am anyway, wow, what a difference to when I was younger, definitely wasn’t an early bird then, I was often late for work!
OK, here I go, I better get out there while it’s still cool.

Hoping you all have a warm, sunny Saturday. Hope it stays dry for you @Bruce.

Good morning all!

I’ve had my quota of three cups of strong coffee, feeling well and truly caffeinated now! :coffee:
We didn’t get a storm last night, I feel a bit cheated as I really enjoy the drama of a good storm :sob:

I’m finally on the very brink of ordering a vintage early 80’s SLR Canon film camera, really keen to get creative (hopefully) with black and white film photography.

Wow!
Firewood heaters and lemon trees, sounds idyllic Rose. We don’t get many of those in my neck of the woods. Don’t blame you or your son for not venturing onto the roof :open_mouth:
Good luck with the outdoor jobs :+1:

Have a good Saturday people whatever you’re up to :+1:

Morning all

Looks like another sunny day down by the seaside in southern Hampshire.

Not completely sure what’s happening here, just noticed my back garden needs a good trim, but there is a Victorian re-enactment show going on nearby with lots of cosplayers and stalls etc, so I may just grab my camera and wander up. There is also an Artisans market going on in town, which I also wander into and have a browse. Apart from that, its all go with our cruise in a few weeks and need to start to get ready for it, with a mountain of paperwork to print off, cases down from the attic etc. One major problem is we have a thousand things to do before hand, and a lot of them involve my Father-in-law with constant doctors, tests and hospitals. So we will probably end up packing on the day we sail.

Anyway, whatever you’re doing, have a great day.

:sunny: :+1:

Good morning!
Dull but sort of warm & close & muggy, as though it’s brewing up for a thunderstorm; we shall see

It was a strange day yesterday - got up about 07-00 for a pee then thought I’d go back to bed for an hour or so
Next thing I know I woke up at well past 12-00, and felt really weak & tired - not really ill, just very tired
So I just dozed in my comfy chair, ate a few scraps of food that were in the fridge, and had an early night

I feel better this morning; had a shower & breakfast, and started a bit of tidying at a very slow & civilised pace

And that’s about all I can think of for now

Morning all – weather can’t make up its mind this morning! First cloudy, then sun, then rain, now back to cloudy. Fortunately we haven’t had any of the forecast thunder storms (as I said before I hat thunder and lightning!)

Talk about dedication, I went in to feed the Beast before having my own breakfast this morning! She behaved herself last night, but has refused to go out this morning, probably didn’t like the look of the weather

The combination of squirrels and magpie have managed to break one of the bird feeders beyond repair so I will have to try to find some more robust ones

Take care – have a lovely day everyone

We didn’t get much rain here in the mid-south and the Sun is shining. The builders aren’t coming here again until Monday, then they might finish the base for the new garden room. While there is a break, I’ll be clearing up around this chalet…

The builder thinks it can be moved in one lump once unscrewed from the floor. It’s in the wrong place and needs moving back now all the land is cleared beyond what can be seen in the photo. Its a kill or cure solution. I can use it as a shed if it survives.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning from Foxy’s world… :sunny:
No exercise this morning (a rest day) but an early visit to Tesco for the weekend shopping.
It’s very warm and humid and it managed to get up to 29 degrees C yesterday. No rain forecast for the rest of today but it feels like there is a storm coming, it keeps going very dark and still.
John the Roofer called round this morning with a quote for the work on the summer house, and I was pleasantly surprised. He starts work on Monday morning…

Good on yer @Bruce, they were quite fussy with the types of plastic you could put in our blue bins, I don’t think much of it was being recycled, and then earlier this year they sent round a circular telling us that they had found a new company to deal with the plastic, and now we can also put in food containers, all manner of plastic bottles, butter and yoghurt pots, and other types of plastic packaging.

You sound very industrious @Rose2 it’s been hard to work here in 29 C so I have to do it in small increments, it now takes me three days to do what I used to do in 3 hours…
But like you, I’m not complaining about the heat, I reckon global warming can’t come soon enough…

Beautiful garden @mart I can’t see why you would want to alter it… :017:
I would spend more time laying in it reading or something than working in it…Although I bet it takes some looking after…

There’s a garden centre restaurant seat with my name on it somewhere, so as soon as Mrs Fox gets back from a knees up at the chapel we’ll be on our way.
Family expected later for tea and plenty of topics to discuss with daughter…A kindred spirit…We can sort out the world together while Mrs Fox makes the sandwiches…

Thanks Chilli, may be idyllic but sooooo much work keeping the heater going all day, especially when the fireplace happens to be on at the same time, in the other room, bringing in firewood all day long! :grinning:

Sounds very hard work Rose!
I’m guilty of being a bit of an armchair wood gatherer :wood: :couch_and_lamp:

We want to have a garden room so it can be used as an office. Our daughter lives in Spain but also spends a lot of time here (this may increase). All her work is done via the Internet and she needs her own space for work. Somewhat the same for our son who stays with us sometimes.

This is a photo taken today. Some of the greenery has been removed to make way for the garden room and the re-routing of the paths. You can see where the base for it is being made. The chalet is just in the wrong place. If it can be moved without breaking, there is room for it to sit next to the new building.

I spent the morning clearing out the stuff from the side of the chalet and dumping much of it in the skip.

It’s going to be great mart, our summer house in the back garden is so quiet I sometimes go and read in there but inevitably end up falling asleep
