Good morning dear readers (yes, I know ) it is a glorious spring day with temperatures in the mid 20s. Spring actually starts tomorrow, hopefully a portent of things to come.
Even did a bit of laundry this morning.
Took the car out to pump up the tyres ready for my trip (am still getting over the fact that in the UK they charge for this) then I put the car on the grass in the back garden to check some things out. One of them was to pump up the spare which I rarely check because it’s under the car and tricky to get at but I do carry a pump.
Have started putting things in the car which are essential for the upcoming trip (maps etc). I was a bit worried about the aux battery but the run and the car mounted solar panels seems to have allayed my fears somewhat. I don’t really want to spend money on a new battery because fuel is going to be a big enough expense (Thank you Mr Trump).
Anyway that has been my morning and early arvo, have a good one.
Weather very changeable, one minute sunshine the next it’s tipping down with rain
Not a great weekend for me, my left leg inexplicably became very swollen on Saturday evening, I was in A&E most of yesterday morning, given medication and have to return today for a scan
Just come back from my daily walk and the weather looks a bit unsettled - typical for a Bank Holiday. Not sure what I’ll be doing today, I would normally go to the local fayre but it looks like it may rain later, so will probably give it a miss. Apart from that, I have no idea what I’ll end up doing and will let my morning coffee decide.
Well I should have known, my run of good news has ended, quite suddenly…
I have had a visit from a physiotherapist under the Hospital at Home Scheme, in the Care Home.
I have not had a good night with my heart so was somewhat breathless when asked to do things, they have absolutely no sense of humour.
No more walking sticks, a wheeled walking frame inside, one upstairs, one downstairs.
A frame around the loo and a lift thing to get me in and out of the bed and bath chair.''Travel outside the house must be with me secured in a wheelchair, either pushed by a Carer or a full electric one.
I have always said that I would kill myself if forced into a wheelchair.
Suddenly suicide by a week on Friday is not so attractive.
The NHS works in weird and wonderful ways.
The Care Home has a supply of wheelchairs for me to use.
They have to stay here, when I go home I go without one and then the Community Physio has to visit, assess me and then order one.
They are not delivered immediately, it can be weeks or Months before I get one.
Good morning/afternoon to all
It’s a washout today, so pottering around, and household chores for now .
I don’t mind though - it’s got to be done, and the rain is doing some good after all.
May catch up later on some stuff i recorded over this last week - it should keep me quietly entertained!
Ah … but from another angle the wheelchair keeps you independent. Yes?
Some of the electric ones are pretty good now. My neighbour has one.
Torrential rain here this mornng so I stayed in bed and listened to it hammering on the roof whilst I read my kindle.
And today feels like a sunday anyway …so has to be a day of rest.
Life is different for each of us. Some days we feel happy and grateful, while other days we may feel lonely, tired, or worried about our health. And that’s okay. We don’t have to be strong and cheerful every single day.
As we get older, I think we learn that happiness doesn’t always have to be something big. Sometimes it’s simply waking up to a new morning, enjoying a cup of coffee, talking to a friend, seeing our plants grow, or having a peaceful moment to ourselves.
So, wherever you are and whatever you’re going through today, I just want you to know that you matter.
Take good care of yourself. Be kind to yourself. And remember that tomorrow is another day with new possibilities.
Sending warm thoughts and a little encouragement to everyone here.
We may be getting older, but we’re still here, still learning, still laughing, and still living.
sorry to hear that Swim. It’s a difficult transition for anyone but you’ve been so active in your past life. I hope you have enough loved ones and friends around to keep you company and help you.
Is this because the exertion is too much strain on your heart or because of the risk of dizziness and falls from the heart condition? Drive Devilbiss do good quality folding wheelchairs.
It’s a shock but for you with your history it’s surely just another challenge in life to be overcome.
Not a good idea SF. I have a friend who is in a wheelchair on the rare occasions I travel / walk with her she has to slow down for me to keep up. These electric wheelchairs are brilliant and controlled with one finger. If they weren’t necessary I would imagine they could be fun.
Perhaps a mobility scooter is an alternative? they are fast too.
