Glory be, the mini heatwave has passed! I actually slept well last night. Nothing major planned for today. I have a quick meeting in town this morning and the rest of the day is mine. I’ll probably pick up a pack of multipurpose compost on the way home for the basil seeds that I ordered from Amazon yesterday.
If yesterday was Saucy Sunday then today is most certainly Atonement Monday. I have some domestic chores to attend to including scrubbing and mopping the kitchen floor…talk about life in the fast lane!
Good morning everyone, that’s how I remember the UK @Chilliboot, a heatwave doesn’t usually last that long. At least, you’ll all have a breather now. I just wonder, what’s still in store for us?
Good luck with the seeds.
Fitness class this morning, I hope it’s nothing too strenuous, just too hot for keeping up with beat!
Hope everyone’s Monday is not too manic! Yes, I’m an 80s music fan!
A bit blowy out there this morning. The wind of change I suppose and it is a lot cooler now. I’m grateful for that. I can’t seem to tolerate the heat like I could a few years ago. Sweats is a known side effect of the pills I have to take and it might just be that.
The Sons have gone back to their respective homes and I’m always a little sad once they have left. I’ll soon get used to it again.
The builders will be here soon and no doubt inspecting the job I’ve made in the chalet (the one that got moved) of putting a floor covering down and making a shelf. I’ll bet they run a spirit level on the shelf while I’m not looking. I know I would.
We will do the supermarket shopping this morning and call into the garage for diesel on the way. I wonder if there will be queues forming yet now that price increases have been mentioned?
Mrs d00d’s off to the gym. I’m off for a wonder around Hyde Park, Ken High Street. I’ll take a little camera, I rather fancy improving on shots like THIS
We are 4 days from our cruise and still haven’t packed a thing. Today we are having to deal with my father-in-law’s doctors and hospitals for yet more tests with more tomorrow, which has totally messed up our week’s schedule. Mrs G is trying to get everything done in the house and its a whirlwind panic here. As husband, I’m duty bound to keep out the way, that is until I’m ordered to go out and fetch takeaway coffees and breakfast sandwiches.
Bought some rain covers for my camera, as the long range weather forecast for Iceland is rain and drizzle every day hopefully may still get some nice pics if the sun pops through. Ideally I would like to see the Northern Lights, but as night time is only 3 hours long, there’s no chance as its the wrong time of year, although that’s not really why we’re going. I really want a good shot of a puffin which is on my photography bucket-list, as well as an active volcano (not sure if that’s on the itinerary).
Morning all – sunny start to the day albeit windy and rain forecast for later and a lot cooler!
Well I was right – put the washing out yesterday in bright sunshine – 15 minutes later it was raining! Still at least it meant I didn’t have to water the gardens last night!
Beastie not my favourite creature today! She left 3 little gifts this morning – have to say I am finding it more difficult to clear up with my arthritic knees! I really don’t understand why she isn’t using the tray!
This morning a visit from my solicitor – I am changing my Will. I have decided to remove all the nephews and nieces who haven’t been in contact with me since my husband died 14 years ago, instead the money they would have received is going to 3 of my favourite charities
Never an easy decision, Sheila, but if you know it’s the right one then it’s the right one. Opting for charities instead is a very noble cause.
Morning all, hope you’re all well and not too disappointed it’s Monday. It’s a mowing the lawn day today and might treat myself to lying in the sun if it’s still bright this afternoon
Just got home from my swim and found out the vicar who used to do all the services I went to growing up has passed away. Feels odd as although I should be sad I was more happy to hear that up until recently he was still alive. I really thought he’d gone many years back
Ay up from my little corner of South Yorkshire where nothing ever happens unless you go looking for it, or make it happen yourself and I’m not interested in doing either.
Cooler today 17 degrees C with a very strong westerly, sending dark rainclouds scurrying across the sky.
Fortunately I found a window of sunshine during my early morning walk and the wind wasn’t so strong at 7:00am. No running today so just a steady saunter taking in all the sights and sounds that nature has to offer along the canal towpath. Including being sniffed and licked by someones curious and fussy hound. I’m more of a cat person myself, and find cats more sensible and cuddly, they do exhibit quite a bit of attitude at times though…Which I like.
Mrs Fox has disappeared down town so I’ll continue to peruse the forum before making my way to the workshop, where there are some components waiting to be soldered onto a circuit board.
I think the final straw was when I received notification that one of the nieces was getting married, with a gift list attached, but no invitation because they were keeping it small! I haven’t seen her since she was 7 years old!
Mrs Fox spent most of her working life in nursing homes and care homes, she was amazed at the number of relatives that turned up when one of the residents passed away. They never saw any of them visiting when the resident was alive…
“Where there’s a will, there’s suddenly lots of relatives”…
That is so true. All those I am taking out of my Will live in the same city as me, the ones remaining in the Will are those who live in Australia who are always in touch, frequently messaging me. Recently I didn’t contact them for a week and the couple who stayed with me before Christmas rang my neighbour to ask them to check on me!
I’m glad I did, bumped into a buddy, an ex pubican and staunch football fan. Of course I stayed for an extra drink as you do when discussing important matters
There might well be some complimentary tickets on the way, never been to a Millwall home game, looking forward to it!
It was quite nice to receive an acceptable cheque from the tax man when I got home. I’ll be able to stand a round of pie and chips in Bermondsey!
