Good Morning Monday, 19th October 2026

Good morning to everyone.

Thank goodness spring is back, sun is shining and temperatures back in the mid 20s.

All that washing I have been saving for the return of spring was dumped in the washing machine as soon as I got up with the sun streaming in through the windows and on the line before 8am, it was dry by midday.

Coffee and cake morning as always very enjoyable company good morning out.

Might mow the grass today or tomorrow it is looking a bit scraggly.

Hope you enjoy the start of your week.

Take care…

Hi Bruce!

Just spending some much needed time to myself. Watching my favorite TV shows, listening to my music, catching up on some things. I’m actually in the process of releasing a new song. It takes time, but I will surely get it done! I hope everyone has a great week ahead. Stay happy. :slightly_smiling_face::sparkling_heart::sparkles:

Good morning!
Dull, cold, raining

You might remember that my car won’t start, probably a faulty starter motor
The mechanic is due to have a look at it today, and probably take it away for repair

Nothing else planned, I’ll probably carry on with a model plane, although I feel a bit tired and might just get back under the duvet for a couple of hours

Do you know the difference between a washing machine and a woman?. When you stuff a washing machine it does not moan.

Morning one and all…

A bright sunny day down here in southern Hampshire.

Not much happening here, drop the wife off at the gym and coffee later. May be forced to get the lawnmower out, depending on if the grass is soaking wet or not. While I’m at it, need to fill a few holes in and do some minor repair on the fence. My hedge hasn’t been done yet, which will depend on how I feel at the time - although may save that for later. Beyond that, really not sure what else is happening.

Have a great start to the week…

Sound like the starter motor either has an open circuit in the coil or the Bendix has locked up. Possible a weak bendix return spring. Turning on the ignition results in just a click is a good sign of starter motor lock up

“A Bendix drive temporarily connects a vehicle’s starter motor to the engine’s flywheel so it can crank and start the engine, then automatically disengages once the engine is running”.Unquote

A gentle tap with a hammer on the starter motor may free it, but it will happen again

This means a starter motor removal. having come across this (oh so many years ago so often when I helped with a car mechanic). The best thing to do is replace it with a new starter motor, Just repairing from experience is only a temp prevention, and possibly more expensive,( if you consider replacement parts and labour costs), it will happen again. Far better to spend out on a new unit.

Just one other thing maybe a weak battery not having enough power in it to power the stater motor. Have you checked the voltage output ? how old is the battery?

@realspeed – yes – the starter motor is stuck somehow
All the other electrics work, and I’ve tried adding a NOCO battery booster, but all I get is a clicking noise

I used to do a lot of my own repairs but now I’m getting too old to go crawling around knuckle grazing
Also I have downsized to a flat and haven’t got a garage or even a drive, just a space on a car park

My car is a 2005 Fiesta, only done 38,000 miles and generally in good condition
Whether I keep it or not, I will still have to sort the starter motor; with a new motor and a proper job, I have no wish to be out in the middle of nowhere with the same problem

Morning everyone

You’re all up and raring to go well before me this morning!

Lovely sunshine and 11 degrees here in Warwickshire today.
The sun has now (officially) left my garden, as it does every year at this time, returning around mid to late February.
I really miss winter sunshine in my garden, although the summer more than makes up for it, and it only bypasses my garden for four months of the year - i think my garden faces north/west, or something like that!

Discovered a problem with the boiler while testing the central heating which means a call to the gas engineers today.
Unfortunately it leaks and loses pressure when the heating is on, so must get it sorted before the really cold weather sets in.
Luckily i have a couple of electric heaters for ‘emergencies’ which i’ve had to use on a few occassions.
The boiler is 15 years old now, and i’ve no idea if this is ‘ancient’ as far as boilers go.

Anyway enough from me, hope you all have a very pleasant day.

Good morning to you all, after a cold, misty start it’s now 26C, lovely and warm, bright sunshine. :slightly_smiling_face:

This is what I saw when I walked into the supermarket this morning :astonished:

Not even during the Covid lockdown did we see scenes like that!
The second store I visited was much better off.

Lorry drivers are striking and setting up road blocks, protesting against abominably high fuel prices, it’s going to be a difficult week, farmers will also join the protest.
I don’t blame them! It’s never been so bad, ridiculous!

I managed to top up my car with petrol, some service stations in other regions have already run out of fuel. :slightly_frowning_face:

Funny, just last night I was watching Clarkson’s Farm - the episode about the farmers protest in the UK, two years ago I believe.

Have a good start to the week everyone.

I don’t play guitar. Sometimes I play my harp, but I do mostly vocals…Hope everyone is well today!

That’s good ! What kind of music do you like? I played violin and guitar and we had vocal quartet, soprano, alto, tenor, bass (me) in our local church.

I have no musical talent whatever

Not even in the shower ?
