Today I am in Winton, another mining town but also lays claim to being the birthplace of QANTAS, a claim which it appears to have lost to the nearby town of Longreach. In case you didn’t know Qantas stands for Queensland And Northern Territory Air Service.
Had a bit of a wander round the town but nothing new, I have been here many times. There is a Waltzing Matilda Museum because Banjo Paterson wrote the song here (so they claim)
Filled up with fuel, bought a crumbed sausage at the servo and am back at the caravan park. I am still about 2000km from home but should be home on the weekend.
Just pottering around at home in the morning, then very early afternoon I have to go and have a blood sample taken to keep a check on my diabetes
From there I’ll catch the bus a few miles to a local town and leave a notice & leaflets about the Men’s Shed at the library
Warm but cloudy in my part of the world. Looks like this week I’m personal chauffeur to “Mrs G” who has assorted dental appointments, visits to the gym and my Father-in-law to deal with. Meanwhile, I have to get to my car dealer and get my recall sorted out and book its first MoT test, as we’ll be away when it expires. As well as everything else, we are getting tons of parcels being delivered, with Mrs G having ordered a dozen dresses in a dozen sizes, shoes, bags, jewellery and who-knows-what for our upcoming cruise next month. Before I can deal with all that…coffee!!
If ever a day could be described as having ‘No Weather’ today would be it…
No breeze, wall to wall grey cloud and average for the time of year temperature 11 degrees C.
After setting off a bit later than usual, my walk along the canal towpath went without incident,
and all the usual boats were moored in their usual places…
Mrs Fox will attend choir practice later, as usual, and I’ll get up to some mischief while she’s away…As usual!
Morning all – change in the weather today, warm but cloudy
The ironing didn’t get done yesterday as my neighbours rang and asked if I fancied calling round to sit in the garden and drink coffee – such a difficult decision but then realised it would have been rude to refuse! (Wine was offered but on this occasion I refused )
I have a damp patch in my porch and the same neighbour called in this morning to sort it for me. He has to come back tomorrow to finish off. I am really lucky with my neighbours – it was a good decision to move here!
Ironing now done so I have some more clean tops to choose from
Plans for the rest of the day are to make a chicken casserole to re-stock the freezer and some shopping
