Good Morning Monday, 15th September 2025

Good morning all on this remarkably warm Spring day.

As I was going out early this morning i noticed my Azalea was in full bloom. To be frank it is well past its best, I don’t know if they have a life expectancy but for the last year it has been looking very sad, once it was a mass of leaves now it is very bare. Every time I painted the house I would cut it back to a near the ground and it would spring back denser than before but I am not sure that it will last much longer.

Of course Monday morning is cake and coffee morning but I spent most of the time setting up a friend’s new laptop. Micro$oft makes it ever harder to bypass their login and only use a local account but we got there in the end (thank god for YouTube). Also installed LibreOffice and VLC for him.

As I mentioned it was warm this morning I went out wearing my cardigan and ended up carrying it, supposed to get up into the high 20s today, so will probably spend a lot of the arvo in the garden.

Lots of stuff on the radio about the Sydney Olympics 25 years ago. My ex wife made a motza as a cleaner in the Olympic village.

Have a lovely week.

Take care…

Morning all

Yesterday was not the best day to be had…

My Father in law was taken ill and had to be taken to hospital with fluid on the lungs. Naturally Mrs G is beside herself and has caused a lot of upset in the family. Fortunately, its treatable and is on medications to get it all under control. Because of his age, they kept him in overnight and will possibly discharge today, depending on what the doctors say this morning. But sadly, this is all self-induced. He eats with a lot of salt and likes food with a high salt content, which he knows he shouldn’t eat with his Stage 4 kidney failure and has seen the effects of fluid retention coming for some time, which yesterday put him in hospital. Unfortunately, he is extremely stubborn and always ignores everyone’s advice, especially when it comes to food.

Getting him admitted meant spending the whole day with him and sorting him out. We didn’t leave the hospital until midnight, found a McDonalds on the way home (not eaten all day) and getting home at 2am. Mrs G is on the phone to the hospital as I write this and see what they say before we know what to do. So today, we have no idea what’s happening.

Have a great day all…

Morning all – heavy rain and strong winds overnight with more forecast for today

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law Graham - hope everything works out OK

Neighbours telephoned from their holiday – complaining the weather is too hot!!

I don’t plan venturing out until the wind and rain has passed so will probably spend the day on housework and filing away some paperwork.

Take care – hope everyone has a good day

Good Morning/Afternoon Everyone… :069:
Slept in this morning and didn’t get out for my walk until after 8:00 am.
It was supposed to be a bike ride this morning but with a howling gale I decided not to struggle against the storm force winds and just walked round my canal towpath route.
Interesting to see yet another large vessel chugging along advertising low emission transport for hire. That’s the second large industrial vessel in three days…It was called ‘Off Roader’ and would probably haul the load of at least three or four big trucks, albeit slower…

If the wind drops I’ll do the bike ride tomorrow.
Next job is to find the viewing times for the new ‘Downton Abbey’ film at the cinema…For Mrs Fox not for me you understand… :009:

That is very wide for a canal isn’t it? I do like the way they are doing them all up after years of neglect.

Yes it is one of the wider ones Bruce, It’s the main route to carry coal to Sheffield to make steel and to the docks at Hull in the opposite direction, to be exported all over the world. Two of the UK’s major exports sadly destroyed by Harold Wilson, Margaret Thatcher and now, net zero…
‘Let them eat cake’ I hear the politicians say as the South Yorkshire pit villages were left without jobs, means of support, and left to decay.

Good Morning from the sunny beaches of north Florida! It’s a fine day out there but the north wind brought the nipping black flies to chase us foolish runners and walkers along the shoreline. Between the sunscreen, moisturizer, and bug spray, I’m confident all the benefits of running are offset by drowning myself in chemicals. C’est la vie!

I am off to take my daughter to her neurologist, a wasted but required visit simply to report, “Yes, the medications are working.” We are a silly species.

My experience trying to sell our house is the opposite of Annie’s; the market, as expected, is as flat as pancake. We had a second showing, but we have been essentially ghosted, so all the effort to spruce up and add fall flowers has been a bit of a wasted effort. My husband now refers to the house as “The Museum” because I won’t let anyone touch anything so it can be shown on short notice. Of note, was not the one who got the house ready to sell. I told him to behave lest I put a “For Sale” a sign around him too!

I feel your pain. I now have to sing whatever karaoke song they send my way and tap dance my the twenty step process of providing codes, QRs, and make Google a sandwich before I can sign in on my Mac, websites, email, etc. It’s ridiculous.

May, that doesn’t surprise me one bit. Turn up the music; I could use some!

Graham, I am so sorry to read about your FIL, but received that you were able to get him admitted to sort things out. I know your wife must be under a lot of stress right now. I hope she can find some respite today.

Have a good day, all!

Many thanks for that. The situation is ongoing, but everything looks positive at the moment. He may have to stay in hospital for a few days, but its too early to say for certain.

Very late in responding, but I wanted to wait until I got home to investigate your ship further. This is what I found:

I was hoping the information might include the cargo, but I can understand why it might not.

It is such a beautiful time of year for cycling. I have been itching to get the bike out into the forest trails, but there are so many crazy e-bike riders, usually tourist first-timers, that I think I’ll give them a few more weeks to clear out. I’ve had two cyclists crash into me over the years, and both were older tourists, and I’m hoping for a more interesting cause of death.

Now as for Downton Abbey, for all the years we have had to tolerate predictable Bond movies, it’s the least you can do . Who knows, maybe you’ll get lucky with a little smooching in the back down :kissing_heart:  I just hope it is better than the last one - the movie that is
