Good Morning Monday, 15th June 2026

Good morning everyone, cooler today only 19° after a cold change yesterday, bit overcast as well.

No walk for me this morning because I was prepared for our Monday coffee and cake morning. Very disappointing, it was called off because a couple of our number were ill. One rang me early because they had a “turn” on Sunday, the ambulance came but decided he wasn’t yet a hospital case. I suggested he try the Urgent Care Clinic, as they were very good when I cut my finger with a circular saw

It is very worrying when my friends and acquaintances get sick, we are all about 80+ so definitely ready to drop off our twig at any time.

Went shopping for wiper blades for my car, ended up getting them for $15 from Big W, I don’t know how places like Supercheap Auto justify $60 for a pair. What are they? Gold plated?

I will probably fit them this arvo then take the car in for its rego check on Wednesday morning. (doctors visit tomorrow) The rego runs out when I am away.

Start of yet another week, getting closer to my trip, I feel very unprepared.

Have a good one.

Take care…

Good morning all!

A slightly overcast morning here in West Sussex, not complaining, plenty of sunshine to come according to the forecast!:+1::sun_with_face:

The prospect of the trip must be exciting Bruce. Do you have a kind of a schedule planned or are you going to travel around freely as you see fit?

I’ve booked tickets for The Tower of London for next week. We intend to get into London Bridge early, have a mooch around for a bit and take some pictures before hitting the Tower and then an essential visit here early afternoon :beers:

A very old historical pub with bags of atmosphere!

I’ve just bought some chicken breasts from the convenience shop, thinking of a lemon, soy sauce, olive oil, honey and sesame seeds marinade😋

Have a good start to the week people!:sunglasses::v::sunflower:

Morning all – sunny start to the day but with a possibility of showers this afternoon

First, many thanks for all the kind comments yesterday. Although his death was not unexpected I felt it more than I anticipated I would

When my husband died I remember seeing a large white bird in the garden, not seen before, and feeling my husband’s presence. Yesterday afternoon I was sitting in my garden thinking of my brother in law when a large white bird flew into the garden, stood on the grass just looking at me for a few minutes before flying off – perhaps he was saying goodbye?

Expecting a couple of parcels today plus the cleaner this afternoon. She has changed her arrival time twice now and the last time she was here she broke a vase and wasn’t as thorough as usual. I will wait and see how she does today!

Take care – have a lovely day

Absolutely no schedule. I shall be basically there for the whole of July, I think I arrive in Manchester on the 2nd and leave on the 30th. It is fifteen years since I last visited the UK (I thought it was just a few years ago - time flies) but this will undoubtedly be my last visit.

Actually I advised the bank today that I will be using my credit card overseas and probably next week I will change a few hundred bucks into pounds just so I have cash to arrive with. I will also bring Australian cash to change as I need.

I have places that I want to visit, Cheltenham where I was born and spent my childhood, Folkestone where I grew up and where my parents are buried, Exeter to see a very old friend of mine, Scotland to see a cousin, London to visit old haunts.

I shall undoubtedly hire a car, my brother wants to come on some trips. I will probably visit a travel agent and see what it available at short notice - that’s how I stayed in London last time.

Will just stay at motels where needed. I am bringing a down jacket, I froze last time but that was May.

Edit:
I should add that I am going mainly to see my brother, my sister in law tells me he has recently been diagnosed with dementia. (I mean, I might have it myself for all I know)
