Good morning everyone, Darwin temp? same old, same old!
Went to the Darwin Tunnels this morning, they were actually dug after 1942 to store oil and aviation fuel after the Japanese bombed Darwin immediately after Pearl Harbour. There were 10dug altogether.
The tanks were about 200 metres long and filled the tunnel, where I walked would have been inside the tank, the floor had been removed but the metal remained lining the walls and the roof. Darwin had 64 raids as the Japs tried to prevent the allies using Darwin to attack their forward bases and supply routes.
The it was off to the Aviation Museum, where among the cold war and Vietnam war planes they hada decommissioned B52. It was decommissioned in 1990 when the Arms limitation agreement between the USSR and USA was signed.
Well, it looks like washing the car yesterday did the trick. It made it rain overnight. I always reckon that washing the car is as good as doing a rain dance. It’s cloudy with some Sun at present. Warm and dry. It’s usually supermarket shopping this morning but we’re awaiting a delivery, so the trip into town can wait until tomorrow.
Morning all – bright start but thunder, heavy rain and hail are being forecast for later (is this Armageddon?)
Gardener is due early afternoon – hopefully the Horsemen of the Apocalypse will stay away until after he has finished!
I have had a reply from a cleaning company – the cleaners they are recommending will be travelling by bus so won’t be bringing their own equipment!! Probably not surprise you to know I politely declined. The company apparently has “lots of employees” and will be contacting them to find those who have their own transport and equipment
As a matter of interest it would appear my TL1 has been removed! I think I know what comes next so – have fun everyone.
Just back from the dentist who removed 3 broken teeth. I still think it was around the time I was in ill health that was part of the cause that was the reason why they broke.
Had a busy afternoon yesterday. My next door neighbour who has a couple of health issues but can do most things, needed his brick pave drive cleared of weeds between the cracks.
So I helped him using my Karcher K5 pressure washer, It took abou 3.5 hours as his also is a large drive. Now it is looking like new.
