Good Morning Monday, 11th November 2024

Good Morning on this cool Monday.

Took the dog out early before leaving him alone while I attended my Cake and Coffee Meeting, two people had birthdays this week so we had Pavlova and cake (I love Pavlova).

Gave the dog a chicken neck when I returned, He is a bit of a cutie though I suppose, at six years old, he is middle aged now but he is very affectionate if as thick as two short planks (I am used to working dogs) very suited as a flat dweller.

I am hoping it will rain later, everything is very dry at the moment.

Of course the 11th November is Remembrance Day, though that is not celebrated here as much as ANZAC Day however there will be some ceremonies remembering those who gave their lives for country and Empire.

Anyway things to do, places to go. have a good day, take care.

At last some heat and the sound of cicadas in the garden. The sound of an Oz Summer.

Cake and Pavlova. It seems a rather strict dietary regime to me but I think I could manage it.

Good morning - An early start today. Have to be at the hospital for a couple of appointments in different departments. I’ll probably be there a while.

Our daughter departs today. Then it will be all quiet again in Mart Towers. Too quiet to start with I’m sure.

Have a good day.

Oh well, Amazon here I come. Not working today although all that changes tomorrow with an early start.
I think I’ll make a pan fried chorizo dinner with pasta in a very hot, spicy tomato sauce :yum::hot_pepper::hot_pepper::hot_pepper::radioactive:

Have a good day people!

Morning all – grey and overcast although we are promised some sunshine for later – hope they are right

Hope the hospital visit goes well Mart

Yet more fireworks last night – hopefully that will be the last until New Year’s Eve :crossed_fingers:

Neighbour rang last night – invited me out for dinner on Thursday – they are off on a cruise on Friday, so I will be back on cat servant duty. I always enjoy my nights out with them they are a truly lovely couple and I couldn’t ask for better neighbours

Off for my flu jab this morning and the gardener is due this afternoon. He hasn’t been for 3 weeks as he has been unwell so the planters are in desperate need of attention.

Take care - have a great day everyone

I am feeling very pleased with myself this morning. I have not had an alcoholic drink since the last one.

I’m sorry with all your appoints, Mart. I had a nurse come to our house three days a week - could that help with your appoints ?

Good Morning from Roberts Residence… :house:
Had to move into the cold back bedroom to post as the bright sunshine was making it impossible to see the screen.
Just observed the two minutes silence…Tea and biscuits are standing by…

Nice and clear this morning as I set off for my walk but a very chilly 6 degrees C.
Borderline shorts weather…The coffee boat was still moored against St Oswalds Church - it’s actually called the ‘Shanty Tea Boat’ - well it is Yorkshire not Manhattan!..
Not open when I pass by, perhaps just as well really, bacon sandwiches are not good for my figure. What’s that? Noooooo chocolate biscuits are fine… :+1:

Very impressed with your rough seas Surfermom, here’s some water where I go, perhaps no good for surfing, but the fishings good…Not that I know anything about that… :009:

Mrs Fox is going away with her friend tomorrow, so there’s luggage and ladies underwear everywhere…She;s only going until Wednesday…

One appointment was to have the kidney to bladder stent removed (painless) seeing as how it doesn’t seem to be doing much good. The other was blood tests, which are improving. The tumour progresses unfortunately. The nurse and the doctor are calling here later this week.

Good morning from the land of tropical storms!

Rafael landed in the night, so we have one more day of big winds and surf. The sky is once again overcast with mist. There must be one giant cloud over the Atlantic, @Sheila! I’m missing out on any hope of surfing with a trip to the dentist and a date Excel spreadsheets.

While our Memorial Day, like your Remembrance Day, falls in late May, it’s Veterans Day here, so the flag is out and it’s a national holiday. We have plenty to be grateful for in this neck of the woods. All kindnesses to those of you who have lost family members and friends.

@Bruce, that is a mighty fine fellow you have there! I am sure he is a wonderful companion and a great dog for traveling. Do you take him most everywhere?

@Psmith, I envy you the signs of summer! We had a quite a bloom of cicadas this year, and I miss that that din already! The last vestiges of summer are hanging on with the tree frogs and skinks hanging out on the windows and sliders for a mosquito or two, but we are definitly leaning hard on the axis.

@Hello, Ron! Good luck with the fence! I am in the middle of sanding a coffee table that I should be able to paint by 2026.

@Mart, I know there is a bit of a pang with your daughter’s departure. I hope the appointments go well.

@Chilli, as a young and new bride, I received a not-so-great iron for my birthday after a certain someone gave my professional iron to his squadron and it hurt my “feelers.” I tend to gently remind young men to never give a woman a gift with a plug on the end of it unless they specifically ask for something. I suspect that advice has saved more than one marriages

I’m enjoying your Monday morning @OGF. That coffee boat is a first for me! I am looking forward to sharing that with friends whose (mystifying to me) primary mission in life is the search for the perfect frou-frou coffee. It’s quite the idyllic place you live!

Where’s my pavlova? I suspect that unless they have seen it on the wildly popular “Great British Baking Show,” most people here have never heard of them, let alone taste one!

Alright, the teacup is empty and the dogs are giving me the guilt stare.

Have a very nice Monday!

Not really, actually you rarely see dogs in shops here (Bunnings is a big exception) it is not illegal (except in food shops and places where food is served) you usually see them tied up outside. Strictly speaking dogs must be on a lead at all times in public places hence the fenced dog parks

They are not allowed on public transport except in a container and not allowed in National Parks - we have enough trouble with feral dogs as it is.

None of that applies to guide dogs.
