Hi

Good Morning Bruce and all who follow.

A much warmer dry day forecast , and it is recycling day,so the fortnightly game of guess how much litter they leave can begin.

Shona is back today for a week before going away on holiday again for a fortnight, she is my techie person so will be sorting out my poorly laptop for me.

The rest of the day will be spent on gentle exercise to get my legs working again, boring but essential.

Have a great day all.

Oh well another day another problem. This time the shower pump for the ensuite shower would not stop running ,so had to switch it off. Plumber arriving this morning to see what is needed. Looking up I see these pumps have a life span of 8 to 10 years, and ours is around the 8 year old mark. I hope a new one doesn’t make so much noise.
Not all is lost as we also have another shower unit in the main bathroom in conjunction with the bath and shower screen.

What’s the pump in? do you have a caravan?

Bruce this is in our house. We have a downstairs cloakroom (toilet and wash basin) the main bathroom and an on suite next to the master bedroom. Pump is in the landing airing cupboard. Dead posh are we (not) in our 4 bed detached house with garage for up to 4 cars. .

and worked hard for all our lives

Morning all.

Swelteringly hot day today on this start of the week. Hope everyone is well.

Yesterday we were at a renaissance fair, loads of jousting and costumes and stuff. Took loads of pics and it’s going to take me a while to go through them all. We also got totally frazzled under the relentless sun, Mrs G getting sunburnt again.

Today, Mrs G is trying to sort out some admin/doctors/nurses/carers for my father in law, whose aliments seems to increase daily, coupled with the fact he refuses to look after himself and never takes doctors advice…and constantly complains about his issues he’s plagued with. After that, Mrs G is off to the Gym for a few hours and a bit of shopping later perhaps.

Meanwhile, its coffee time with porridge and toast for me.

Take care all…

realspeed…
The shower pump has a couple of Reed switches in the valves, when the water is turned on, a magnet slides along the pipe and activates the reed switch…Which in turn, starts the electric motor. It will be a faulty reed switch…Just a few pence from some electronics establishment.
Electric pump motors very rarely conk out and will last a helluva lot longer than 8 - 10 years… :009:

Was late going out for my walk this morning and saw lots of people I know, so progress was slow. It was very warm indeed and by the time I arrived home at 9:00 am it had already reached 26 degrees C. The main reason I was late going out was first I slept in…
:sleeping_bed:
And the second, and main reason, was Rosie the cat made a break for freedom as I opened the door and Mrs Fox was in tears, thought that Rosie was going to get lost. Rosie was full of energy and managed to keep avoiding two old slow people trying to catch her…We eventually pinned her down in the back garden by outsmarting her with her favourite toy…
I’m all for letting her have a run around the garden, but Mrs Fox reckons she shouldn’t go out until her final jabs on Friday and her eventual neutering…Everything gets neutered in our house…
:flushed:
No wind and a spattering of cloud, and the temperature is set to rise to a heady 30 odd degrees C…The view down the street…

And the thermometer at 10:00 am…

Swimfeeders, I almost forgot…
When I worked on the post and travelling to work, I was behind the recycling truck, the amount of stuff flying out the back was ridiculous, there were tin cans rolling along the road and bits of paper of all shapes and sizes clinging to the hedgerows. I think the truck would be empty by the time they reached the depot. Perhaps that was their intention… :009:

Morning all – very sunny start to the day and we are forecast temperatures over 30c.

Felt lazy this morning so didn’t get up until around 8.30 – birds once again had to wait for breakfast!

Met one of my brothers in law at the cemetery yesterday – he was there visiting the grave of one of his brothers as it would have been his birthday (my husband came from a very large family!). He is unfortunately suffering with his health, he is the 4th of the brothers to get cancer. Listening to him made me feel ashamed for whinging about my knees.

The gardener is due around 12.30 – it will be the first time in a month as first he cancelled due to hurting his back and last time we had heavy rain, today he will be working in strong sunshine – don’t know whether to offer him the usual cup of tea or a cold drink!

Take care – have a great day everyone

I think you may be right Foxy, a neighbour once saw the men working on the recycling lorry putting recycling into peoples black bins. When challenged they said it was because it took them too long to unload at the depot!

Good afternoon all! :sun_with_face:

Oh dear!

Meagre pickings on the mill pond. I thought this would happen give the very dry weather this year…

We did eventually manage to gather enough for Chilli jnr to make a delicious crumble this evening :yum:
The haws are abundant, we’ll be making a ketchup out of those when they ripen in the autumn… ready in time for Christmas :snowman:

Have a good day forum people :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

Unusual realspeed… :017:…Did the bearings actually stop the pump?
If you live in a hard water area the limescale can gum things up…

Ah! you don’t have mains pressure water! That explains it.

When my old man visited he spent considerable time using the hose to clean the concrete and anything else that didn’t move. He loved the pressure - his house was fed from a tank in the roof so water basically dribbled out of a hose - Like about a metre if you were lucky.

Later during the millennium drought they had to reduce the pressure because it blew the hose apart when they mandated a pistol grip regulator on hoses. It is still pretty fierce but at least hoses don’t explode.

Fires were extinguished but quite a lot of trees destroyed, yet another fire yesterday morning and at the moment we can see smoke coming from behind a hill. Not as serious as the situation on the Vesuvius, it’s been burning for days, looks like an eruption in photos! :flushed:.

Now that is a compelling picture Rose!
It makes feel as if I want to be there…
Perhaps not…
