Good Morning Friday, 4th April 2025

Good morning everybody, it is another warmish autumn day here - 23° I believe. Thank god it’s Friday, only a couple of days before the insufferable daylight saving ends.

I went for my walk this morning after 7am and the sun was only just rising and the air was still cool, absurd!

Do like Autumn, the nights are cool, 16/17° but the days are warm, mid 20s - perfect.

Am basking in the glory of yesterday’s activities though I did go out with my little Makita blower to get the grass clippings off the front path - once upon a time I would have sneered at the blower and been out there with my yard broom but no more.

Some of the morning was spent on the phone, a doctor’s appointment on Monday, Optician next Friday. I really do need new glasses I scratched one of the lenses a couple of months ago plus I need a letter to keep my driving licence.

Also received a phone call from an acquaintance complaining about the $4.50 a fortnight pension rise, I had to explain to him that we Baby Boomers are no longer the chosen ones and that we have been replaced by the Millennials as pollies favoured group. We are lucky to still get a rise each six months better to keep quiet and hope they don’t notice us.

Have a fortunate Friday, the weekend is almost here.

Take care…

Hi

Good Morning Bruce and all who follow.

Dry and sunny today, but my legs are still playing up.

I have managed to get one partially, which is something.

I couldn’t sleep last night, so decided to read the full 417 page of things we are considering putting Tariffs on from the USA.

It is amazingly long winded and boring and the perfect cure for insomnia., I got less than 80 pages into it before waking up 4 hours later.

Did you know that we considering putting Tariffs of Dugong Meat and Live Ostriches?

I bet Trump is laughing his head off.

Have a good day all.

Good morning!
Bright, dry, and sunny

Yesterday I went shopping at the Community Grocers and Aldi
I tend to buy things because they look interesting or are on offer, so today I’ll be sorting through what I’ve bought and working out some sort of meal plan for the next few days

Nothing much else planned

Good morning - A sunny and mild day ahead. I’ll be accompanying Mrs mart to the doctors for her blood test. I’m walking (her wheeling) there and back. About a 3½ mile round trip.

This afternoon could be eventful. I’m going to try riding the e-bike. The first time since I got ill with this and that. It has got to be a year or so since the last time I rode it. The chain is oiled, tyres pumped up and battery charged. All the dare-devil off-road stuff I did in the past on the manual bike isn’t helping me feel any more confident about getting on a bike again today. Don’t know how I’ll get on with all the external plumbing my body has but I reckon cycling still can be done. Soon find out.

Have a good day everyone

Morning all – rain overnight and overcast this morning but we are promised sunshine and temperatures of around 20c later

The meet up with the girls yesterday was great fun and, as always, we were the last to leave. Things went downhill when I realised I’d had a senior moment and left my shopping bags at home so couldn’t do the weekly shop – will have to get that done this morning.

This afternoon I am planning to try a new group – they are an off shoot of the W.I. and meet in the local community centre.

Take care - have a great day

Good Morning from Foxy’s World… :069:
Due to circumstances beyond my control I was late getting off for my walk yesterday but it was nice and warm by 11:00am after the sun had settled in and done it’s stuff. With no aches and pains to speak of, I decided to do my long one - These days I call it my ‘long one’ but for almost fifty years of running it was my most ran route and the shortest of all my courses. I could dance around this course in just over thirty minutes. Today it has taken me almost two hours…I was dawdling though and trying out my new phone camera…
From the railway bridge I have a commanding view of the Allotments and a hive of activity…Well not today perhaps…

A small copse of trees and bushes revealed a dumping ground for the local drug users, the unsettling thing is, they are mostly school kids…

As I walked along the main road (The A18 to Hatfield) there are woods to my right, and fields as far as the eye can see on my left. So this very disturbing sign leads me to believe that houses are going to occupy this most beautiful stretch of countryside between two villages, where my Dad brought me as a boy, to look for conkers on the 100 year old Horse Chestnut trees.

I finally reach the lane and my last few miles home. Gone are the sounds of the traffic, and replaced by the sounds of crows, skylarks and sparrows.

Unfortunately my walk had painful consequences during the night when my knee kept me awake until I succumbed to a couple of paracetamol…
I was planning a useful day in the garden today, but alas, I’ll have to shuffle my schedule around instead.

Just a quick word about the camera on the Samsung Galaxy A36.
I was a bit disappointed with it. The 10X zoom turns out to be a digital zoom and not an optical one, and although it takes good photos I think the 50mpx is far too large, and even the default one of 15mpx comes out at over 6Mb when transferred to the laptop. The menus are far too fussy and it won’t replace my Cannon SX620 HS 25X zoom camera when I want to take some serious photos.

Hi Foxy! I like your photographs, especially the lane.
Sorry about your knee… Did the paracetamol work?

And your lane is about like hours:

Good afternoon all!:sun_with_face:

After a positive meeting in town I thought I’d pop into my favourite local for a solitary pint before heading home…

The Abbot Reserve is now on and at 6.5% one is probably enough, especially at lunch time :open_mouth:

Enjoy the rest of your Friday forum people! :+1:

Hi everyone, some sunshine at last, haven’t seen a blue sky in ages, but it was bitterly cold this morning while I was out, doing some errands, oh my, was it cold! North winds :eyes:. I should have taken my hat and scarf . I just took a quick photo while I was walking along the centre of town.
Love those country lanes @Besoeker and @OldGreyFox!
Loaded chips, @Chilliboot? Sounds like an interesting dish!
