Good Morning Friday, 25th October 2024

Good morning to all our Friday forum friendlies. That means YOU :index_pointing_at_the_viewer:

It was bin day this morning but I didn’t bother putting my bin out last night, often I only put it out once a month. You can see why - this was my entire last week’s rubbish, even more annoying 95% of that is soft plastic (I have written to my MP about it)

Have been out in the garden on a lovely sunny morning removing dandelions (and a thistle). My first wife would not allow the removal of dandelions, she made tea and other concoctions out of them - I am not that fussed but this time of the year when they flower I have a bit of a blitz.

A very satisfying haul.

This arvo I have to wait in for a Canberra mate of my son’s to call in for the latter’s Sydney flat keys to use it for the weekend. He has promised to return them on Sunday because I want to attend a conference next week and want to use the flat myself.

Anyway, that is my Friday so far, have a good one

Good morning all, foggy start to the day but the sun should come out later. It’s still quite warm for this time of year , afternoon temperatures reach 23C.
I had my olives pressed the other evening, came back with 40 litres of evoo.
I took a video of the machines in action but I am unable to upload it here. I must say that watching the process was quite emotional, especially at the final stage when you see your oil coming out of a tube falling into a large basin.
It’s an enormous place and this year they had set up an area with tables and chairs and were offering pasta, bruschette and wine for everyone  My son was really happy, I only had two glasses of water and a small bruschetta, I wasn’t really hungry, too emotional .

Morning all – wet start to the day but sun promised for later :crossed_fingers:

Had a lovely evening with my neighbours – except when it was time to leave I stopped them and said we hadn’t paid the bill, only for him to say he had paid the bill at the bar when ordering more drinks! They have invited me out again next Thursday as they will be leaving early for a long weekend the following day. I have said I would go only on the condition I pay for myself!

There was an ad on my Facebook page yesterday offering a free quote for cremation service! In the past there have also been ads for funeral services – do they know something I don’t? :worried:

Not much planned for today – making a chicken casserole and then some ironing

Take care – have a lovely day

Good morning!
Cloudy & dull, but dry

I feel a lot better today, which is the end of my antibiotics course, so hopefully I will continue to improve

Had a shower & breakfast, then I’m going to the supermarket soon
Not sure what happens this afternoon, but I’ll probably take it easy so as not to rush my recovery

And that’s about it

Good morning everyone.

I overslept this morning which is unusual for me, especially as Annie dog has an in-built clock that usually insists that we get up at a certain time!

It is quite foggy here today which I hope will bring sunshine later to burn it off, well I can live in hope. We took a different route for our walk this morning, more street based than over the fields. We spent most of the time dodging around bins left out for emptying, often in the middle of the pavement, quite an obstacle course at times but we managed without incident.

I had a lovely time yesterday afternoon when I went out for afternoon tea with my elder son, daughter in law and her mum. It was the first time I had been out with dil’s mum since I lost my husband and her husband went into a nursing home, so we found that we had lots in common to talk about regarding living alone after so many years with our respective husbands.

Nothing much planned for today except cleaning the bathroom and maybe getting around to the ever-growing pile of ironing.

Happy Friday everyone!

That is fantastic! I am a happy for your whole family and understand what an enjoyable and meaningful ritual it is to take olives in for pressing this time of year. I am astounded how much oil was yielded from your olives; definitely a worthwhile endeavor! Congratulations.

That’s just lovely, Sheila. In of the most memorable sermons I ever heard, of family was definied as a group of people that gather around a table for a meal. I really like the message behind that. It sounds like your neighbors are just that wonderful.

That’s really good news. I think we take for granted how recently and effective ths use antibiotics are.

Here, too! The warm gulf, still conditions, and cooling land have left us with all sorts of early-morning fog.

It sounds like you made a connection and had such a nice time. I have so much respect for people who have lost their spouses and carry on with life so valiently, while carrying around the weight of such a profound loss. I hope you are found some peace in that common ground.

Those dandelions make delicious greens for salads. Perhaps you and Rose should get together and make the forum a salad for lunch!

The lecture yesterday was purely enjoyable; the large audience was attentive, asked excellent questions, and laughed in all the right places. I am looking forward to a day at home with the dogs, deep cleaning the fridge and baseboards, and generally experiencing the pleasures of home for a change!

Have a good start to the weekend!

You will have to upload it to Youtube to put it on here I think. If you don’t want it visible to strangers just put it as “unlisted”

Mmmm, I’m not really convinced about that .
Anyway, thanks for your suggestion
