Good Morning Friday, 1st May 2026

Good morning everyone, it is May day when we celebrate the 8 hour day achieved, at least in Australia, in 1850s (8 hours work, 8 hours play, 8 hours sleep), not a public holiday in NSW though.

Eight hours to work,
Eight hours to play,
Eight hours to sleep,
Eight bob a day.
A fair day’s work,
For a fair day’s pay.

A repeat of the previous week of warmish days (25°) but with the remote chance of shower this evening.

Of course my morning walk went off with out a hitch, lots of corellas out and about enjoying the morning sunshine.

Received a message on my phone telling me that a package had been delivered from Amazon. Oh dear, I made a mistake, it was what I ordered but I was expecting two USB C cables rather than just one. I checked and it was entirely my own fault :frowning_with_open_mouth:

For the rest of the morning I have been doing little jobs around the house, probably will get the mower out later and mow the lawn.

Enjoy your Friday whatever you are up to. The weekend beckons.

Take care.

Good morning everyone, typical May Day weather over here, sunny and cloudy at the same time, cold North winds blowing after a rainy day yesterday. Such a shame, it was warming up really nicely.
I won’t be resting, lots of housework to do, and I think I’ll pull up some weeds outside in our backyard and do some general outdoor Spring cleaning. I need to cut my way through a mass of very tall shrubs to get to my cherry tree which has some fruits that will hopefully ripen soon.

I want to keep myself occupied so I won’t think about our cat who’s gone missing.

Just as I’m writing this, the sun has decided to hide completely behind the clouds, doesn’t look too good, really chilly out there, jackets and jumpers out again.

Have a good May Day to all who celebrate it today too, I know it’s on Monday in the UK.

Good morning!
Sunny, clear blue sky, dry

Men’s Shed this morning
Nothing much planned for this afternoon, though I might muck out the bedroom.

Good morning all

Today it’s been up early and last minute panic getting everything ready. We’re off on our cruise to Norway today, so it’s get the house ready (water, gas) work out how I’m going to get our over-stuffed suitcases in my car, make sure we have everything and make our way to the docks, which is about 40 mins away. I have no on-board data as its a rip-off, so the only time I can go online is when ashore if there is wifi around.

Have a great day all

Morning all – as it is a Bank Holiday this weekend, the weather has changed! It is grey and overcast with rain and possibly thunder forecast for this afternoon!

Hope the cat turns up soon Rose

Have a great holiday Graham

Met up with the “girls” yesterday, had a lovely catch up sitting in the sunshine on the terrace of the village hall.

Driving home a light on my dashboard was on – I have never seen this light on before and thought what bad luck, the day my car mechanic neighbour goes on holiday my car decides to play up. Got home and found the reason the light was on was because the boot wasn’t closed properly!

Nothing much planned for today – will wait and see what transpires!

Take care – have a lovely day

Good morning all

We have warm sunny spring day, temps in the 20c and Ive put my long summer Skirt on !.
I think the temps are dropping again tomorrow though .

I think I might do some house work today, Ive left it while my back was painful, or I might leave it for another day

@Rose , Cats are quite the wanderer in Spring , I only had one Cat and it stayed out for 3 nights, we went out looking for it under cars , calling out its name at night, (Mr Tibbs ) it eventually came back , with its face all scratched , obviously been in a Cat fight , and I was told it was Spring Fever , Cats go looking for Mates .

Have a Happy Day everyone

Hello Everyone
 :039:
First of May
already one third of the way through 2026

:astonished:
Sorry to hear about your cat Rose, they can be such a worry. I hope it turns up soon safe and well

Have a great holiday Graham, although I feel the cold these days so would be looking for somewhere warmer
Perhaps the Med

Such a nice morning so I did an extra long walk down to Bramwith lock.
Before you arrive at the lock, you pass the junction. Left to Leeds and right for the lock and on to Keadby.

This is what the sign says in the distance

Couple of swans meandering along
I bet they didn’t realise there was a Crocodile in the water behind them.

Perfect weather for a good walk, although they have forecast Thunderstorms later.

I finally arrive at the lock with the moorings at the other side.

Hi

Not a great time recently.

A fairly serious instance of supraventicular tachycardia affected me for over a day, racing heart rate, very scary and exhausting.

A common effect of serious heart failure, I had been told that it could happen.

Once it has happened it is quite likely to continue to happen from time to time.

My laptop is also playing up, messages about low band width.

All good fun.

Went to Chinatown this morning, bought some goodies but didn’t stay for lunch. We caught a bus to a favourite sushi joint in Kensington. Super weather, about 25C.

Ha Ha, That’s exactly what I thought when I photographed this pelican back in 2017 at Karumba on the Gulf of Carpentaria

You’ll notice I stayed well away from the waters edge.

The nearby town of Normanton has what they claimed to be an actual size statue of a local celebrity.
