The LOTR movies were overblown and long drawn out, especially The Return of the King. Frodo’s last part of the journey to get past Saurons eye and into the cave to destroy the ring was tedious to say the least. The whole film could have been condensed into an hour and a half. And another thing - too much reliance on the eagles to save the day. Send in the cavalry.
Out of interest, why didn’t Frodo and crew merely fly to Mordor on the backs of the eagles? Would have saved a lot of time.
I agree with Judd. I’ve seen all of the LOTR movies, and was underwhelmed by them all. What really got on my tits was, that bloody Gollum, and his “precious” blatherings! Now GOT is a completely different animal, lots more exciting, better storyline, good acting, and no stupid hobbits! I’m ripping through series 1, onwards and upwards!!! :-):-)
I haven’t seen the movies so I can’t comment but if I have a complaint about the book it is that it took 600 pages to get to the end of the journey and 40 pages to get home.
But Frodo could have remained hidden just buy wearing the ring while atop a giant eagle away from Modor agents. A quick ten minutes flying over Mordor and he would have been at the cave. Job done.
An excellent series with a great cast. Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister is exceptionally good. They aren’t too bothered about killing main characters off either.
Will do John, thanks. I won’t be starting it for a couple of months though as I have so many other recordings to catch up on. Homeland has taken over my viewing completely at the moment
He is just fabulous isn’t he. But there is so much great acting in GoT. It’s just Sansa and Theon Greyjoy that get on my nerves. Some of the sub plots are so disturbing. The worst thing was Jaime having his hand cut off. Horrible!
Thanks for the heads-up on the final season of Homeland starting next month, Galty.
This will tie in nicely as I still have seasons 6 and 7 to watch. I don’t want to record the new season from the TV as I cannot abide adverts in drama programmes. I’ll buy the DVD as soon as the series ends
