From Book to Screen

Good for him. Perhaps now we will get an actor that matches Child’s own description of Reacher.

Totally agree Jack Reacher is described as more of a gorilla of a man. I am putting off watching Amazon’s take on “Wheel of Time”. Being a Robert Jordan fan since the 90s. Dune the 1984 version, has made me trepidatious about the new movie. I would hate to see them ruin it twice.

I watched the Wheel, haven’t read the books so knew little of anything about it,

Now THAT’S exactly how I image Reacher to be like :+1:

Bit of a macho man it looks, he does fit in to how you would picture Reacher to be based on the books.

I’ve come across it but the two that really hack me off are from M. C. Beaton’s books. Hamish MacBeth should have been a tall redhead, very few of the characters were the same, most of the original ones from the books were missing and new ones brought in. The Agatha Raisin mysteries got the same treatment and it infuriated me. Agatha is a Sybil Fawlty sort of person, not a tall willowly blonde who is far too young for the part.
If I’d not read the books I’d have enjoyed the series, but they were all wrong and I felt cheated I suppose. I mean, if your going to take a popular book series and make it into a TV Series then do it without destroying what made it popular. AND, leave the characters alone.

Fully agree with this. I had always had another actor in mind, whose name escapes me right now, but I do know other people out there had the same opinion.

Roy Marsden. That’s the one.

that’s how I imagine most men

No, not Roy Marsden - he’s too old and already burned in my memory as DCI Adam Dalgliesh (P. D. James’s detective).

V reckons that Aiden Turner (Poldark) would make a good Roy Grace as he’s the right age and has the right physique (Grace has been described in the books as an ex-rugby player).
