Foxy's Latest Project

Just blank for me Bob, are you learning magic tricks?

Thanks everyone, I think I’ve discovered what the problem is…:017:

I posted the last couple of photos from my google account and I’ve just realised that once I shut down my computer the account no longer exists and the forum can no longer follow the address link to its source, otherwise people could hack into my google account…:009:

The clue was in Pixie’s post (thanks Pixie) where she said that she could see my photo last night and then it disappeared. That would have been because I shut down and went to bed…:015: Sorry everybody…Back to the drawing board…

Sorry Mags, just trying to find a better way of posting my photos…

Sorry Fruitcake, I can still see them great…
No good if nobody else can see them.
I think the ā€˜no entry’ sign is google preventing anyone else seeing my photos.

Thanks Pixie, I’ll have a shuftie…

Any good?

Ahh that’s better! I see a picture now, hurray!

Is it a biggen?..

Yup, and there’s a smaller thumbnail that can be clicked to enlarge it.

I’ve only been a member for six years and I never knew you could do that…Thanks Pixie…:038:

Just goes to show, you’re never too old to learn…

Ahh that’s a beautiful snowy scene, Bob :023:

With snow like that, are you sure it’s gout you have and not frostbite?

It’s funny you should say that Mags…
My last couple of runs have been along flooded roads and my shoes were soaking and my feet were so cold when I arrived home. I asked the doctor if she would like to see the photo of my foot, but she declined and assured me it was the gout…:102:

Maybe you should invest in some Gortex lined running shoes? Totally waterprooof and would protect your feet from this. They can be a tad expensive, but so worth it.

Nice idea Pixie, but I’ve run the fells and moors the length and breadth of England in all weathers and for over forty years and never really had a problem before…I’m just getting old and knackered now…:090:

Awwww!

Following a successful bench test using the lab power supply a few weeks ago, I assembled the metal detector, provided a battery, and today went mobile…
I’m still using the search coil I constructed for the mark one version but results have been astounding!..:surprised:

I wandered around the house discovering wires in the walls and pipes under the floor. It worked particularly well on Mrs Fox’s gold wedding ring…
After using the small built in speaker I then attached the headphones and was so surprised at the difference in sensitivity, perfect for outdoor use.

The second test has been a success. It just remains now to fit a handle and a warning light to indicate when it’s switched on. During the setting up process it doesn’t always make a noise, so it could be left on to flatten the battery.
The larger purpose made coil needs fitting also. It does show that there is plenty of room for experimentation with the search coil.

It sounds brilliant Bob, clever you! :023:

Thar be Gold in them thar halls!

I knew it would work because you are so meticulous, but that fact it worked so well is a bonus.

Well done chap.

Great work!

Thanks Mags, just some work to do on the handle and as soon as this snow and cold weather subsides I’ll go out and test it proper…

Thanks Fruitcake, I was surprised how good it has turned out. I’ve built stuff before and been disappointed with the finished product, but this does just what it said in the description…I’m well chuffed with it, can’t wait to get out detecting…
