Foxy's Latest Project

Just blank for me Bob, are you learning magic tricks?

Thanks everyone, I think Iā€™ve discovered what the problem isā€¦:017:

I posted the last couple of photos from my google account and Iā€™ve just realised that once I shut down my computer the account no longer exists and the forum can no longer follow the address link to its source, otherwise people could hack into my google accountā€¦:009:

The clue was in Pixieā€™s post (thanks Pixie) where she said that she could see my photo last night and then it disappeared. That would have been because I shut down and went to bedā€¦:015: Sorry everybodyā€¦Back to the drawing boardā€¦

Sorry Mags, just trying to find a better way of posting my photosā€¦

Sorry Fruitcake, I can still see them greatā€¦
No good if nobody else can see them.
I think the ā€˜no entryā€™ sign is google preventing anyone else seeing my photos.

Thanks Pixie, Iā€™ll have a shuftieā€¦

Any good?

Ahh thatā€™s better! I see a picture now, hurray!

Is it a biggen?..

Yup, and thereā€™s a smaller thumbnail that can be clicked to enlarge it.

Iā€™ve only been a member for six years and I never knew you could do thatā€¦Thanks Pixieā€¦:038:

Just goes to show, youā€™re never too old to learnā€¦

Ahh thatā€™s a beautiful snowy scene, Bob :023:

With snow like that, are you sure itā€™s gout you have and not frostbite?

Itā€™s funny you should say that Magsā€¦
My last couple of runs have been along flooded roads and my shoes were soaking and my feet were so cold when I arrived home. I asked the doctor if she would like to see the photo of my foot, but she declined and assured me it was the goutā€¦:102:

Maybe you should invest in some Gortex lined running shoes? Totally waterprooof and would protect your feet from this. They can be a tad expensive, but so worth it.

Nice idea Pixie, but Iā€™ve run the fells and moors the length and breadth of England in all weathers and for over forty years and never really had a problem beforeā€¦Iā€™m just getting old and knackered nowā€¦:090:

Awwww!

Following a successful bench test using the lab power supply a few weeks ago, I assembled the metal detector, provided a battery, and today went mobileā€¦
Iā€™m still using the search coil I constructed for the mark one version but results have been astounding!..:surprised:

I wandered around the house discovering wires in the walls and pipes under the floor. It worked particularly well on Mrs Foxā€™s gold wedding ringā€¦
After using the small built in speaker I then attached the headphones and was so surprised at the difference in sensitivity, perfect for outdoor use.

The second test has been a success. It just remains now to fit a handle and a warning light to indicate when itā€™s switched on. During the setting up process it doesnā€™t always make a noise, so it could be left on to flatten the battery.
The larger purpose made coil needs fitting also. It does show that there is plenty of room for experimentation with the search coil.

It sounds brilliant Bob, clever you! :023:

Thar be Gold in them thar halls!

I knew it would work because you are so meticulous, but that fact it worked so well is a bonus.

Well done chap.

Great work!

Thanks Mags, just some work to do on the handle and as soon as this snow and cold weather subsides Iā€™ll go out and test it properā€¦

Thanks Fruitcake, I was surprised how good it has turned out. Iā€™ve built stuff before and been disappointed with the finished product, but this does just what it said in the descriptionā€¦Iā€™m well chuffed with it, canā€™t wait to get out detectingā€¦
