At least the best team in the competition won. The entertainment prior to kick off and at half time was a farce.

Haven’t really followed the world cup this time round. Watched the England games, and was impressed with the French and Spanish teams, England showed some flashes of brilliance, especially in the playoff with France but never really looked like a contender for the final.
Tend not to follow all the shenanigans outside the game.
A bit like the Olympics, each time it comes around the host country spends more money trying to make it the best games ever but looses sight of the reason why all the athletes are there, they try to make it a ‘love in’ between countries instead of competitive excellence.

I have a buddy, she’s of Spanish origin. She sent me one or two texts in Spanish during the game regarding her opinion on things Argentinian. I had to Google for translation 
No way could I post them on here! Think I’m going to sign up for her Spanish course…naughty lady!

Argentina should not have been playing in the final but bad / bias refereeing decisions in their game against Egypt meant the poorer team got through. The way Argentina played in the final showed just how poor a team they are … but ad revenue demanded that the big names were playing.

there has only been 6 red cards ever in the world cup. Argentina managed 3 of them, this to me says a lot about not jut how they play football . Not only that but the countries attitude overall- cheat- fight -lie -bully to get what they want

Argentina is rarely in the news. Or of interest in the UK.
This all-embracing Football Competition.
Despite 44 years,
Argentine supporters have exposed their true Geopolitical colours.
In fact, their Intentions and Aims extend beyond the Falklands.
To Monopolise and Unify the Whole of S. America. Under their dictate.
Hotly dismissed by Mexico and Brazil.
Chile and Adjoining Countries Apprehensive.
The USA envisaging another, much more, worldwide consequential. Than Venezuela.
The upside being. That Argentina is not Unknown for. >>

That Those 255 Brave and Heroic RMs, Parra’s & Gurkha’s. Died for.

Soccer is one of those sports that is a better game when played by women, their lesser strength make it a far more entertaining and interesting spectacle in my opinion.

Surely the weak discipline applied in (male) football games creates so much of the problems witnessed. In rugby the referee will have a strong word with the captain of the team if players are out of order and it is the captain’s role to ensure discipline and proper game play. The childish attempt to bully the referee by half a dozen players after a decision would simply not take place in rugby. It is stopped immediately, players are punished, the captain told to get his players in line and end of the problem. Not so in football where petulance, bad play and rule breaking are routinely allowed. You get what you tacitly endorse.

Personally, as an armchair sports follower these days.
Would prefer to watch Martial Arts or Wrestling. [Rhetoric]
That soccer has excelled in during this recent competition.
With probably one surprising exception.
Of the so-called “Beautiful Game”.
Played by the Cape Verdeans.
The winners amongst 4 are predictable.
The endeavour, experience, and ensuring efforts of the lesser-known participants.
Is where any sport is worth watching.

I much prefer football at league level! Down to earth, great to mingle with others and chat. Absolutely no Madonna!!!

Quite the converse here.
It has been league football that turned me off the game. Perceived as simply being a contest between which club could afford the Best “Foreign” Players.

Players of one’s own country tending to be sidelined.
Alternative. “International Games” only of interest.

I’m not a football fan so I disappear to the bedroom with my large iPad and watch films on that. 
. I popped into the lounge to see if the match had finished and was horrified, I had caught the post match punch up. I was even more horrified when I realised it was the players, not the spectator.
They were a load of hooligans. 
Can you imagine the tennis or cricket players brawling like that?
