That man has put out so many good albums in such a short space of time.

After this thread I’ll be having a summer break from the forum, perhaps even longer. I need to get my life back on track. When I visit and post into the many threads started by others, hearing their views, listening to their stories and offering my best wishes and so on, it’s a shame they don’t reciprocate by joining in this one, only to say they are not interested would be a start!

Thanks to the regular set of posters who make this thread enjoyable, but when I weigh up the efforts I spend posting all this, it’s simply not worth my time to do anything like this again. As I say, I’m committed to this now so I’ll continue until the end but then I’ll be gone.

I do look in occasionally to this thread Floydy, and it’s nothing personal regarding not posting but I just feel that I’ve nothing to add and didn’t want to spoil your magnificent efforts having very little interest in music… I could probably remember a bit of Bat Out of Hell and Rumours, but that’s about it I’m afraid…

Hi Barry.
That’s okay bud. I’m not clammering for visitors, I’m just wondering why many of the threads which last about a day have input by probably 80% of regular posters on here when they go out of their way to ignore the more specialised threads. Perhaps they have little attention span or something.
Nice to know some are looking in anyway, it makes my efforts not a complete wast of time, blindly posting record sleeves for the sake of my health! Sometimes though I do wish I’d just done a one-page list and have had done with it though I do enjoy this when we get some conversation going.

I’d love to see your Top 50, there must be about 5000 albums in it.
It’s always easy to say what we would have in our top whatever but when it comes to actually compiling a list it’s not as straightforward as we think. Hence why I ended up with this top 1000!
I had some terrible episodes of stress when it got to the top 100 and what to miss out. And the top 40, top 20 etc.
The top 10 was a complete nightmare and it took me about a dozen attempts to make my final decision.

Ha ha…you’re right…I’ve never even thought about compiling a top 50 …let alone a top 1000 and if I did do a top 50 I would probably never be happy so I do respect your efforts.

I’d be the same with a top 50 - it would have to be dynamic otherwise I would never be happy. My favourite album is one few would agree with if they had even listened to it: Neil Young & Crazy Horse Sleeps With Angels.

Yeah, it won’t be “Right, here’s the No.1. We’re done!”.
I think we may stick around and discuss things further. I know I’ll be adding some notes on those which didn’t make the cut etc - which I can’t do yet for obvious reasons - and other short lists detailing the top albums per year etc (maybe in a ‘Top 10 per year’ and so on). Loads of ideas yet bud, and hopefully some of you may submit your own lists too which would be great.

I also need to catch up severely on to other people’s music threads, such as Nom’s avant garde ones and others who post similar threads
