TV Smith, Gaye Advert and their band of socio-political punks with their first album. Highly charged, socially-aware political punk in the vein of early Clash or Stiff Little Fingers, the band were short-lived but TV Smith has continued making albums in his own right and performs constantly on the club circuit.

No.601: “The Soft Bulletin” by The Flaming Lips (1999)

One of my favourite bands at the moment since I saw them them last year when they blew me away. Their stage experience is out of this world.
1999’s Soft Bulletin made them big stars after languishing for so long in the doldrums of US indie-rock since the early 80’s. Here’s a recent clip of a single from this album:

Big fan of Kurt Vile and War On Drugs who I saw in Edinburgh’s Usher Hall a couple of years ago…Not the best gig I eve r went to as their music is best suited to sitting , lazing and letting wash over you…Not that great live!!

I can imagine mate.
The album is a particularly ambient-ish affair tbh. Full of easy melodies and so forth but no, I couldn’t watch a live performance of it. Then again, I love Pink Floyd of course, but they utilised their light shows to great effect to make up for their lack of movement!

When are we going to see some Bread?

Sorry mate, no Bread in the list. Not a great favourite of mine.

Sweet list. I haven’t heard Alan parson project in ages.
And Rick Wakeman from YES. YES!!! Journey to the centre of the earth. Rush! Toto. It reminds me of all the concerts I’ve been to which are plenty. In the 100’s for sure.
Good stuff. Recognize and like most of it

YES!!! Did I hear the birds sing and see the light shine in the darkness??? Ah my dear, I cannot look on thee! Rick Wakeman!!! Oh please I thought I was alone in the world!!!

Rush? My go to band with Zep for jamming! Used to sing and play Tom Sawyer in Geddy’s key…then the voice change happened around 8th/9th grade and I dropped to a baritone

Saw YES in concert three times. ‘‘Twas quite the entertainment.
Talented musicians or what? And the light show? Spectacular.
It also reminds me of when we took a bunch of 100 watt amplifiers and went to an airport all just to listen to “yes” as loud as we could. It was a blast. :mini:
This is like a blast from the past?

“When I’m old and wise”, the choir boy voice of Colin Blunstone

:044:

Oh, God, I’m dying! I’ve been their biggest fan since 1975 [I was 11!) Saw Them in '78 and 7 or 8 times since. I was shattered when we lost Chris Squire. I took up the bass because of him and patterned my playing off of his unique style Me and my Rickenbacker have never looked back!!

Ya, then it wss like Robert Goulet! Lol

I have to have dinner now…please let us continue this joy fest tomorrow, D.V.

Just stay there! Lol. No, jk!

Ok. See you tomorrow! Xo

Hi Bratti, Bobby Americano
(This isn’t another Candy bar thread incidentally!, Nice to have to chat but let’s keep it on topic, as there is a topic to discuss. Cheers guys;-)

Anyway, good to see you both popping in and enjoying the albums in here.

The Alan Parsons Project are one of my favourite bands of all-time. You will see ALL of their studio albums turn up before we end all this. And ‘Old And Wise’ is indeed an unbelievable piece of music isn’t it? It’s in my Top 5 of all-time that song and will be played at my funeral - not that I’ve ever been a particularly wise man!

Yes, Rush, Toto - all good stuff too. Please stick around guys. I work nights so it’s always good to natter on here about the thread, but I only get limited time during the day to continue with the actual album postings. Please bear with me, we’ll get there in the end and I’m sure you both will see some absolute classics along the way.

Cheers guys :cool::cool::cool:

I am sorry Floyd. I certainly meant no disrespect.
My apologizes. :023:
