Floydy's All-Time Top 1000 Favourite Albums

Thank you, Longfellow. I’ll have more time to revisit your thread now, and others’ too, especially some of Nom’s rather strange ones!

Thank you, ladies. I’m pleased you both found something in there to keep you looking in…could have done with a few more actual posts though

Valid comments guys, and thanks to you all for reading all these months.
Please remember though that it’s only my personal taste and that I cannot help it if it doesn’t suit your own.
Fact is though, DSOTM is a massive seller, one of the biggest ever, so a lot of people agree with me.

Thanks bud, appreciated
I must admit, Animals still keeps growing on me even after playing it umpteen times since I first bought it in 1982 I think. Since I became “more grown up”, I’ve learned to appreciate songwriting and playing much more, and the thing with that album is that it’s very intricate in its execution. I’m thinking even now that I maybe should have put it higher up.

On a similar note, I think the record in here which really should deserve a much higher placing is R.E.M.'s Automatic For The People. Should have been Top 20.

Ta mate.

I’m a technophobe mate. I took this on my camera late this afternoon after waiting for the wife to go out. Took me about an hour to assemble everything, and another hour to put it all away again.
Took the photo and it came out small and really crap.
Ho hum.

As I’ve said many times.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve really enjoyed the thread and found some interesting stuff.

Always pleased when something I treasured came up…forr example how you placed Deacon Blue so high.

For me not enough MoBo or female contributors e.g. Tracy Chapman. ( but no Proclaimers!) And where was Pink Flag?? I don’t remember seeing it.

However, just so you know …I love DSoTM…it really is a great album but musically we are in different hemisperes but that isn’t what’s important.

Well done !!

Btw, please post the whole list…I need to analyse it properly…As will others!

If it is in your album, Find the pic in your album, click on it to make it bigger, then do the usual copy and paste.

You have nothing to apologise for Floydy.

If it was the results of a poll, then perhaps some posters might have some regrets but it is your choice and therefore it’s notpossible to be disappointed.

You introduced me to a couple of albums that I might never have known about, Boston’s third stage being one of them so I am grateful for that.

Floydy, you have got me thinking about favourite twenty albums. I will post them, but, in no particular order, they all mean something, but none more important than the next.

Not a bad idea - I may do the same…but perhaps with singles instead.

But its not your 1000 so no one really cares

Well done Floydy, thats some achievement and a labour of love

Ive stayed along for the ride, not contributing much as a lot of your music Ive not heard of, but Ive listened to a good few of them now, so thank you for introducing me to them

I still think it would look good in print

I have an idea for something too.

With respectt Missy, Don’t speak for other people.

If Ffosse says he is disappointed in some of the choices that’s his right and I get that. He’s invested a lot of time in watching , waiting and contemplating this thread and is entitled to his emotions.

There’s no need to disparage him.

I was also disappointed in the Floyd bias …but the clue was in the author’s name, I guess!

Still enjoyed it tho and will compile my own top 20 albums in time and will take all comments good or bad!

In the Lands of the North, where the black rocks stand guard against the cold sea, in the dark night that is very long, the men of the Northlands sit by their great log fires and they tell a tale…

Well done that man.
I must admit waiting for the top two was as tense as waiting for the result of the Russian General Election.

Try again…

Woohoo!

That’s it.

I know mate, it’s that Boston album which we started talking about way, way back isn’t it? What a classic that is.
Pleased to be of service buddy

Do it guys, let’s see your choices.
I do actually have a “Top 500 tracks”, but I did it about five years ago and it’s a little dated now. I’ll never do anything like again though, it’s just been lovely to spend a Friday evening watching the telly for a change! My missus said “Who are you?” lol!

Thanks Missy, but how do I put all that into print?:cool:

Good man, thanks bud. You’ve been here all the way and I’m really grateful to you for that. Makes it seem worthwhile doing it.
