Floydy's All-Time Top 1000 Favourite Albums

Easily Roger’s best as it’s actually fun to listen to.
I’m going to see him live in July, but I have second thoughts already. I’ll have to have a good trawl around Liverpool’s pubs prior to the gloomfest I’ll no doubt be experiencing!

I bet Renaissance were great live, Nom. Was Annie Haslam with the band then?

If i remember correctly they toured with Wishbone Ash and Stackridge as a triple header, and had a female vocalist but i cant be sure it was Annie Haslam, so it must have been 1971.

Good call on Dire Straits and Blondie. The latter were so much better once they’d shed most of their punk feel.

And that’s where I’d place Revolver; it’s a great rock and roll album with scarcely a bad track - I’d agree that it was the Beatles finest.

Do you have My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts upcoming?

If not, I’d seek it out. Brian Eno and David Byrne produced something rather special. It features in a lot of best ever lists.

I predict you’ve got one more Roger Waters album to come.

Good info, thanks Nom

Doctor Robert is a bit bland actually, but the rest is epic.

Just for you and at great expense to my state of mind, I found it mate: My Life In The Bush of Ghosts.
No.764, Post No.471, Page 16.

Can’t think of another Roger Waters album left Ffosse?
20-The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking-1984
375-Is This The Life We Really Want?-2017
669-Radio KAOS-1986
706-Amused To Death-1992

My bad - my memory of that far back isn’t good and I’m lazy at searching for it. It’s one of my favourite albums which requires a good few listens to get a taste for it. So, no more Roger Waters, but surely some more Floyd.

I must confess to being ignorant of Renaissance (apart from the single Northern Lights), this evening I’ll give the whole album a proper listen.

You’re hoping for miracles, aren’t you mate?

You will love that Renaissance album, Ffosse. Play it loud bud and I’m sure you will enjoy it.
It has lyrics by the poet Betty Thatcher apparently.

Wiki tells me that she wrote most of their lyrics. Anyway, that’s part of my music listening sorted for tonight (still making my way through Journey).

Let me know what you think to the album, Ffosse

Here’s those Journey albums again:

53-Escape-1981
161-Trial By Fire-1996
224-Frontiers-1983
244-Departure-1980
248-Evolution-1979
264-Infinity-1978
354-Raised On Radio-1986
384-Captured (Live)-1981

Pros was Rogers second album as he and Ron Geesin released Music from the Body, the last track of which featured all 4 members of the Floyd.

I had ‘Music From The Body’ in the back of my mind when I posted that actually, Nom. I thought it was crap when I got it on cassette in 1988, but I should give it another listen someday.

When The Wind Blows I thought of including, but I left it out as it’s not solely Roger Waters. he has one side to himself but there’s other stuff on the reverse side such as Squeeze and so on. But then, I do include some soundtracks so maybe it might have made the list early on somewhere.

No bother i had the film of Where the wind blows but cant remember if he was credited with the music solely. And of course Body is a film so both are soundtracks.

Same here tbh. I have never heard anything but the singles. I can understand why it’s there though. She had such a superb voice.

So far I’m really enjoying A Song For All Seasons - reminds me a bit of Linda Thompson and something else I can’t put my finger on.

As an aside (and apologies if you’ve posted any of their albums) did you never have much time for the Moody Blues, Floydy?

I like them, Ffosse, but I don’t have much of their music. Days Of Future Passed is in here somewhere.

Enjoy your Renaissance evening, you and Longdogs too.

Any Gabriel in the breech?

We’ve had some early Genesis albums in the list mate. Just the one solo offering though, ‘So’, earlier on.

I know you’ve been busy taking care of business with Smashy and Nicey but have we had any BTO?I can’t remember.

No mate, never really touched on them apart from the big single tbh. Must listen to some more someday
