Haven’t been following as I’ve been in hospital but just caught up.
Good to see Bat Out Of Hell in there…I think the follow-up is even better.

Lyrics never get old and always makes me laugh.
Meat Loaf. “You took the words right out of my mouth”.
On a hot summer night
Would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Will he offer me his mouth?
Yes
Will he offer me his teeth?
Yes
Will he offer me his jaws?
Yes
Will he offer me his hunger?
Yes
Again, will he offer me his hunger?
Yes!
And will he starve without me?
Yes!
And does he love me?
Yes
On a hot summer night
Would you offer your throat to the wolf with the red roses?
Yes

Im pleased to see Hunky Dory placed so high, for me his best album as many of his others are so influenced buy other artists, but this one is him.
Haha! Brilliant. That’s Jim Steinman narrating that bit. Typical of his overblown methods I think.
It is a terrific record, Nom. I’d go along with the other influences as far as some of the later albums, and the Berlin trio had some Kraftwerk in them I guess
So far, I pre-guessed Tubular Bells and Animals.
Where will Rumours be?
Two of my favourites Spitfire, they were going to be in somewhere.
As if I’m going to tell you that Ffosse. It might not have made the list at all.
I’ll just say I think you sometimes have a sixth sense with your predictions…
I know roughly your age Floydy, and suspect the top ten will be un-guessable . It has been good to be my age, musically, to progress, and not rock around the clock all the time.
53 mate and quite diverse musically. Though most of my favourites in here are from the late 70s - early 80s, I love earlier bands too, and there are also many which are from the present day too.
I think some people may have an inkling about the rest of this chart, using the old system of noting what has gone and whose albums may still be to come.
Gripping stuff, isn’t it?
I could probably rate a top 1000 singles, but not albums, so many albums have just one or two special tracks, and the final ten albums would include some Classical works.
I did compile a big list of favourite “tracks” many years ago, that included singles and album tracks, but it might be out of date now. Some day I may update it, but don’t worry as I won’t be doing a thing like this with it!
Classical music I like a lot but I’m no expert and I wouldn’t be able to mix them into a popular music chart, that would be impossible I think.
I may do a short list of my favourite classical tunes someday.
You have to consider the modern day classics, they have all the melodic meanderings and, messages sitting above.
I really wouldn’t know where to begin mate, I know nothing about modern classical music.
Would you include film scores in a classical music list? And orchestral themes, music for adverts etc?
I wouldn’t have a clue.
No, simpler than that, Genesis for one, there will come a time when AI orchestrates the lot, because folks listened with prejudice, and couldn’t be bothered.
looking through the personnel I had forgotten Van Zandt was still around.Nils Lofgren only did the Born in the USA tour.
Some of his solo stuff is worth checking out.He does a good version of For Your Love
You mean in the same way that computers can change the sound of live bands to make their music, especially the singer’s voices sound like the records?
Keyboards have often reproduced the sound of full orchestras too, which is where bands like Genesis and Yes are at with their sound I guess
Like that mate. I remember when I saw Bruce on this tour and Nils Lofgren had joined the band for it. He was the new boy then as I think Steve Van Zandt was busy starting his solo career and couldn’t do the tour. Since then though, Bruce has had both guitarists in his band.
The first time I heard Nils Lofgren was on the 1979 single ‘Shine Silently’, a small hit. I got the album by his first band Grin a while ago and that’s a good record. There’s also a great song called ‘Black Books’ which was used on The Sopranos soundtrack, but I don’t yet have any of his solo albums. I’ll have to see what I can “acquire”.
I discovered Nils back in 1977 via the Night after Night album, still have it in the loft somewhere.
Townes Van Zandt was pretty good too - I still listen to him a bit.
Bat Out Of Hell has to be one of my all time favourites as well
I always have a copy of it in the car and one in the house
It’s legendary isn’t it, Missy? A one off really
More albums on the way very soon…
