Everyone loves The Beatles. How can we not?
Yep you are pleasing me:lol:
I’m not a big Chris Rea fan although I do like Stainsby Girls and Steel River.
Good to see the Who - I suspect there might be a couple more upcoming?
I’m not really a Beatles fan, either. Their best, as far as I’m concerned, is Revolver which would make my top 100 but only just.
Hi Ffosse
Three more from The Who yet to come.
Surprised about your relatively nonplussed view on The Beatles actually. Probably picked the right one as your favourite though.
I’m thinking now that it’s probably best to just chuck these albums on as and when I get them sorted out, rather than spend hours preparing them all in a list. So, here’s another (I didn’t prepare earlier!). And I think everybody will like this one:
No.90: “Eat To The Beat” by Blondie (1979)
I mean what do you want from an album? If you want a selection of utterly classic singles you’ve definitely got it on this one: ‘Dreaming’, ‘Atomic’, the vastly underrated ‘Union City Blue’. Great album tracks also, which is why there are a double helping of these attached to this post.
Only the previous album Parallel Lines matches this record as being one of THE seminal new-wave pop albums of the late seventies. Plus of course you get the delectable Debbie Harry who can make any man’s knees give way beneath him.
Videos:
And my God, I LOVE this song. That opening crash of guitar and drums…
I always preferred the Who and the Stones to the Beatles. I’m not big on Pink Floyd, either, though technically I can see how good they are it’s just not my bag.
That’s a classic Blondie album.
And there’s more…

Aw Ffosse! Right in the middle of the videos man!
Only joking mate, great album this isn’t it?
Each to their own though on the other bands. If we all liked the same thing you would know which album would be coming next
But that will now have to wait until tomorrow, otherwise I won’t eat today :-p
Interesting history between Nigel Harrison and Debbie Harry - they hated each other and Debbie refused to acknowledge him at the Rock and Roll hall of fame ceremony, preventing him from getting on stage with the band.
Eat to the beat -Blondie.
It’s funny but when I first heard this album, I hated it. I thought it was too different from their original, earlier, punkier stuff but looking back now, it was a good album and let’s face it, she could have sung the speaking clock and I would have been in love.
I didn’t know that but I knew they had problems over the years. Same with Frank Infante too. I think both guitarists walked out (or were sacked?) around the same time.
It’s a grower of an album mate, I was the same.
I got into them with Parallel Lines when I won it in a Look-In magazine crossword competition in 1978! The second album I ever had in my collection.
The posters from the centre spread of Smash Hits were all over my bedroom wall. Debbie Harry made an adolescent boy rather excited at the time
I’m still predicting Parallel Lines in the top 10
We’ll probably reach a hundred pages with this thread by the time it’s finished. Just hope Azz’s server can handle it all!
Phew…!! just checked in after a week or so away…
It’s all happening !
Still waiting for some of my faves…Never Mind The Bollocks, Rattus Norvegicus, The Suburbs, Stadium Arcadium, Hunky Dory, Lost In The Dream, Songs From The Big Chair, The Colour And The Shape, Catch A Fire, Dark Side of The Moon…I could go on but better stop!
Edit…Fear of Music and Too Much Pressure…told you I could go on, although I fear my musical tastes are slightly different to yours!
Hi Moscow, good to see you again
Some nice namechecks above there bud. I can tell you that four of those albums will appear at some stage.
Have to thank the notorious Saville for bringing “I can’t Explain” to my attention. In those days buggerall pop on the BBC,you had to tune in to 208 .
Part of the fun has been waiting in anticipation for the next set of albums you post, especially this last 100 so please, please, please don’t give too many more hints as to what is coming.
