Yes, I know. Mine certainly does, anyway, and not infrequently.
Old doctor whoâs were always a bit educational, as well as entertaining thatâs what this series appears to have returned to. It was a family/kids show, the adult off shoot was torchwood and that was far less educational from what I remember.
The Torchwood plots were all the better for it too.
Stopped watching Dr Who some years ago, it became either too surreal or too politically correct which the BBC as with all TV channels is obsessed with these days.
I enjoyed them too but i never watched them with a child, i like Dr Who is embracing the younger audience too now, there is a lot of rubbish on childrenâs tv these days and a lot of it not made in uk. its nice they are seeing something British made and interesting.
Surreal ? its sci fi hardly a documentary format
PC ? treating people equally nothing wrong with that IMO
Kids need teaching I like that BBC is willing to step up and help parents discuss these topics. We had a long discussion about the segregation that Gracie had no idea had taken place. They mentioned Emmett in the story when we googled him we were all moved by his story. A lot in Sci fi has made us look things up and educated us.
So did I for the same reasons.
Missed last weeks because it was spiders, but watched this week and enjoyed it a lot, love the idea a man was having a baby and it was nice getting more back story on the companions too.
Exactly why I didnât watch it this week.
I believe next weekâs lesson at the BBC is about the independence of India
You missed a really funny and moving episode LD.
You missed a really funny and moving episode LD. Next weeks sounds interesting about the creation of Pakistan, Iâm looking forward to it our schools donât cover this so itâll be interesting for Grace.
I could do with a LOT less preachy episodes concealing a âhiddenâ (come off it, weâre not daft!) moral lesson and, while weâre at it, a great deal less of the Doctorâs breathless wide-eyed ditziness. I was hoping that in the 21st Century a female Doctor would at the very least be portrayed as a take-charge, competent adult. What we get is The Waltons in Space trying to educate what the BBC evidently considers The Great Unwashed Uneducated Masses.
What was I saying about an excellent science fiction programme having morphed into a trendy PC human-interest programme?
Of course, we must remember it is the BBC.
Hi
I enjoyed it, plenty of Sci Fi and special effects.
Itâs very bizarre to have the male of any species ,even an alien one ,give birth. They are just not made for that sort of thing.
I never expected much from this new series and itâs living up to it.
Itâs also a kids show and Iâd rather sit and watch something with a moral and a lesson that also entertains than something that teaches nothing.
Exactly that Tachyon.
I see in the reviews that viewers are leaving in droves because it is all too pc and people are just sick of it.
It peaked with people wanting to see a female dr, itâs dropping to levels still higher than when matt smith was dr from what I can see.
I keep being told by moffatts fans that this series is awful and too pc but they canât see how elitist the series he did became with many of us so confused we felt left out.
This is a childrens programme always has been, if it can teach them as well as entertain imo thatâs great. Only anyone against equality can really complain about it being more inclusive.
I watched the spider one, but the space ship hospital, last weeks, was much better. The creature would have been quite a cute one if it hadnât been so nasty.
Itâs Sci-Fi & meant to be entertainment.
