F1 - Abu Dhabi - Final race of the season!

Terrible luck…:frowning:

Luck can go two ways, most sports are riddled with it.

Strategy played a part.

I have a feeling this might not be over, toto was not a happy bunny

@Primus1 , He’s just pissed coz Horner out thought him !
If Lewis had pitted when aMax did he would have won the race !!
Red bull have out pitted and out thought Mercedes all season !!
Great race though Lewis made a brilliant start and was faster
during the race!!
But he lost !!
Donkeyman! :+1::grin::grin::+1:
PS, Hold everything !!!
Mercedes appears to be contesting the result !!??!!

Quite right too! The stewards have yet again interpreted the ‘rules’ to suit themselves without consistency. They allowed all the cars through until MV’s and then told them to race knowing full well MV had just put brand new soft tyres on … I’d be challenging the result too :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: Rules should not be open to interpretation, they should be hard and fast set in stone.

Formula One driver George Russell led an extensive backlash over the circumstances which allowed Max Verstappen to dramatically steal the World Championship title in the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday.

Hamilton’s future Mercedes team-mate was shocked at the rule change which sensationally allowed Verstappen to suddenly make up lots of ground on leader Lewis Hamilton, and eventually overtake him to grab the championship.

Russell tweeted: 'THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!

@LongDriver , Surely everybody can change tyres while the
race is under the safety car LD ??
I thought it was optional and up to the team if they do or do not
swap rubber ?
If Lewis had pitted he would have won the race ! that he didn’t
was Toto’s fault !!
If the safety car operated incorrectly is nothing to do with
teams but the administration??
So hard shyte for Lewis but red bull did nothing wrong !
And what about the short cut Lewis took on the opening lap ??
Donkeyman! :grin::grin:

it IS unacceptable to interpret the so called rules to suit your frame of mind at the time. The stewards as a collective were completely out of order.

Red Bull didn’t do anything wrong, it was the stewards changing rules and minds mid race that was wrong.

@Besoeker , Well George could be looking after his future
interests Besoeker ?
And don’t the rules only state that cars cannot overtake whilst
under a safety car?
Not that cars cannot close up before restarting ??
Lewis has benefited from this in the past if l am not mistaken ?
Sour grapes from Toto l think because Horner out smarted him ??

Where’s Minxy ?
Hammy needs consoling !?

And that’s the crux of it.

I’m just wondering, since liberty media took over, they promised us more of a show, what better way to have the title decider at the last gp, if they can arrange for it to be taken down to the last lap, what better way to ensure many more viewers, ??

The race director Micheal massi, wanted to end the race with the cars on track and not under a safety car which would have happened if all the cars had been allowed to overtake the safety car, as it was, it was just those between lewis and max , yes it’s controversial but it is within the rules, but , the real winner was formula 1

@Primus1 , Ah l see what the gripe is now Primus !
But then it shouldn’t affect main contenders in the race If a
‘few’ cars were still behind the pace car ??
This must be the first time this has happened so maybe FIA
can forgiven as long as things are sorted by next year ??
What else can be done ??
Run another race ?!?!
Donkeyman! :thinking::thinking:

since Charlie Whiting left the role of race director, its all gone A over T

When there’s a safety car the back markers are allowed to overtake the safety car, all the drivers are made aware of this , if it’s wet however they don’t do this, in this case if all the back markers overtook then the race would have finished under the safety car, they wanted to allow both drivers to have a fair go, so that’s why it was done this way…

Charlie whiting sadly passed away suddenly several years ago

Lewis Hamilton makes me want to throw up. The says he is racing for the UK under the Union Jack flag yet lives in some far off tax haven country and avoids paying UK income tax by doing so. Talk about being a hypocrite he is a prime example of people we should remove any UK passports from people like this
