And they only know the difference between right and wrong in the abstract
In that, like Boris Johnson, they are aware of the difference between right and wrong, but go ahead and do wrong anyway, out of self interest and because it serves the chumocracy
I would imagine every potential leader has had it well drummed into them that if they are asked if they would use the nuclear button, they have to say yes (even if they wouldn’t)
Because there is no nuclear deterrent if they don’t
So slightly dim Truss remembered that and made sure she got her “yes” in. Twice!
Totally ignoring the interviewers point which was that he accepted she’d say yes if asked if she would do it
He wanted to know how the thought of it made her feel
The thought of Truss leading the country at these times of crisis is terrifying.
But it’s still better than having a leader we know to be a liar and a charlatan, like Johnson, leading the country at these times of crisis
So we’ll just have to cross our fingers she doesn’t stuff up too badly and prepare to kiss our …. goodbye
The report about how she’d feel about pressing the nuclear button - what a daft question for journalists to ask.
Whatever they might feel inside, what’s the point of having a nuclear deterrent if the PM makes it clear they wouldn’t use it or they’d be squeamish about using it.
To any foreign power listening to such a declaration, it wouldn’t be a deterrent any more if the PM had said they wouldn’t use it.
I’m more worried about her saying the Government doesn’t need an ethics adviser - if ever a Government has shown they need guidance on what is right and wrong, it is this Tory Government, the Government that Truss has played an active and supportive part in.
Has anyone any idea what Flip Flop Starmers view on nuclear weapons? This week?
From the Independent
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has said he has confidence in a shadow Foreign Office minister who said he would be “quite happy” for Russia to be able to hack into the UK’s Trident nuclear missile system and render it useless.
I suppose that if one states a load of random and contradictory policies then those who wanted to hear what they wanted to hear will have heard it and need listen no more, and eventually one of those policies might by fluke actually work (partially anyway), at which point one could always quote that as always being the plan and completely obfuscate the other clear failures, by the time honoured technique/tradition of ignoring the question and talking about something completely different instead.
As a rule of thumb, it’s true for all politicians that one knows for a fact that they’re being economical.with the truth when they begin by saying “the reality is”
Does anyone really realise what will happen if the nuclear button is pressed and the world is plunged into Armageddon?, the Russian media are saying putin should nuke Britain, do they not think that , if that happens nato will retaliate?, there’d be nothing left for any nation to conquer…
Seriously? Asking you a question shows what? I notice that you removed the question mark from the quote, now that really does show what type of person you are.
