I have no idea about the support act dropped by Ed Sheeran during the current US tour. Macklemore - never heard of him. But it seems that during the last concert this Macklemore chap voiced his support for Palestinians and his disquiet at the military and settler actions by Israel. Hardly that controversial, surely? He was not repeating the Bobby Vynal death death chant.
But that little message was too much for the owners of the two or three venues where Sheeran was due to play next. They told Sheeran to get rid of this nasty, rabble rousing Macklemore fellow. So Sheeran duly binned his long term (not any more) friend. These are my principles and if you do not like them, then I have others.
Bad news for Sheeran. His claim that he does not do politics was not convincing. All other support and backing acts have now walked away from Sheeran’s tour. Oops.
So I guess the question is - can you be a star without politics?

Ed Sheeran is a mega star here in the states, no question.
Although he is from the UK, his popularity is unquestionable.
Google him, and you will find not one single bad image of Mr. Sheeran.
He is down to earth, humble person in real life. He donates thousands to charity, respects everyone.
He does not come from a wealthy family, rather from a comfortable middle class upbringing.
One of my favorite singers and celebrities in the past 10 years.
I thought he’d said the decision was made by the tour managers/operators and nothing to do with him
