I feed my spiderlings on live mealworms & get lots of those beetles. They are no good as food though, as they excrete a noxious gas, if anything tries to eat them.
When I feed live mealworms, or even cockroaches, I behead them, so they continue to move, but cannot bury themselves & then pop up weeks later.

I keep thus breed, cockroaches for food & I also have a few species of Isopod, (woodlice) to act as a clean up crew in my tarantula enclosures, as ispods eat dead crickets, roaches etc.

I mix dried mealworms with my hedgehog food, so good for them they are getting a bonus

I bet a lot of people who may venture to this thread are very glad you didn’t post pics of your Spiders. 
Good grief! I go and have a happy teatime, and come wandering back to see what the new posts are, and there’s @Gee3 beheading things and using woodlice to clean up…seriously, I am not going to sleep tonight

Eeek! Strange pets! I know they are supposed to have a beauty of their own, but I just couldn’t!

I do have some difficulty with “hissing roach” & “beauty” being thought of together…

I couldn’t keep Tarantulas either. I have enough problems with House spiders.

When l was at infant school, I was told if you killed a beetle, it would rain!
I didn’t kill them I put them in the garden.
Tiffany, I know you didn’t. Seeing the beetles, just reminded me of that old superstition!
