We have just had a letter telling us from Aug 1st all repeat prescriptions will now have to be put in 10 days before we collect them, an increase from the previous 48 hours it took.
I am wondering what they will be doing with them that can take 10 days 
Reading this thread I´m beginning to realise how lucky we are here. We can get an appointment, quite often on the same day if we need, certainly the next day. Our local surgery has a doctor or paramedic on duty 24 hours a day. Some doctors speak English, some speak only Spanish, the doctor I now see is from the Dominican Republic, Spanish speaking but also mostly understandable English, so with some Spanish and some English we cope well. There are no âtime slotsâ, you are with the doctor as long as is necessary, so yes, I think we are very lucky.
perhaps its for the summer , while staff are on holidays or short staff.

I have always had complete faith in Doctors until this happened. My brother in law has had a sore throat and a one sided headache for several weeks. His Doctor had prescribed antibiotics and painkillers. Several days later and no improvement, stronger antibiotics and painkillers were given. Another week later yet another prescription for further meds. Last weekend he was so ill an ambulance was called and along came a mobile Doc on a motorbike who examined him and said he urgently needed to see an Ear Nose & Throat specialist. Monday morning his daughter phoned various hospitals in Kent until she finally found one that had a bed. Later that same day he was told he had Throat Cancer. Do we trust our Doctors? I must admit my faith has been somewhat dented.
Thatâs appalling ! So sorry that just isnât right and shouldnât be happening.
I think Cancer must be one of the most difficult to diagnose in patient for GPs,in my Fathers case he was treated for stomach Ulcer for a year it turned out to be stomach cancer,it had spread to his liver too ,MIL also was mis diagnosed .So perhaps Gps need more training in spotting this desease.
The consultant that is now treating my BIL said this growth was wrapped around his tonsils and couldnât understand how any Doctor could fail to see it. He also suggested his wife should seek legal advice.
Since im from the US rather than the UK I would have to say that here I feel alot of doctors are in the medical profession for $$$ rather than the desire to help people. I have found it difficult to find a doctor I trust since most seem in a hurry to get you in and out. My current doc is ok but still lookin
Considering the reputation the NHS has, I consider myself very lucky, from the staff at the GP surgery to the hospital, every one a winner. I think that standards vary from region to region and even from department to department within a hospital.
Several days later and after a Tracheotomy and a feeding tube into his stomach the Oncologist has said this tumour is Inoperable and Untreatable. He has only a matter of weeks and that is only if a Chest Infection doesnât get him first. It also came to light that he had been seeing his own GP for months. Almost a year in fact. How on earth could his GP let it go on for so long just prescribing antibiotics and painkillers.
So sorry to hear that

That is so terrible to hear - unfortunately, not the first nor last - this doctor is not credible at all - truly shocking âŚ
So sad for you and the family involved especially your Brother in law and your Sister âŚ
Oh matey, that is despicable!!! - yes there is a good case for medical negligence here.
Sorry to read the update on your BIL ,EZ Rider, sometimes what life throws at you is so unfair .
What a terrible injustice done to these people. Had this man been treated early on this could have been prevented and now he will lose his life and his wife lose her husband. Thats exactly the problem with some doctorsâŚthey are happy to take your money without providing the care that is expected. Terrrible terrible thing to happen. Many years ago our neighbor developed a cough and went to the doctor. Was treated for bronchitis. Never got wellâŚwent back and forth for a year just to finally find out it was lung cancer all along.
The latest update regarding my BILâŚHe has been seen by another Oncologist who after a further scan says that he is much stronger now and the cancer is not as severe as they at first thought. They are currently discussing the possibility of either Chemo, Radio Therapy, or even an operation to remove the growth. These options will be discussed next Monday. Needless to say we are all feeling cautiously optimistic at the moment.

Where there was darkness, theres now light at the end of the tunnel, Iâm pleased for him and hopefully it will have a good outcome
I have a lovely doctor, although very rarely see him, as I keep away as much as is possible.
