I tried to find this place but could not. I thought I should have heard of it given that I grew up in Kincardineshire and my parents retired in Angus. Perhaps near Montrose?
Sounds east coast - so hit by the freezing wind direct from Siberia. Yes, a coat might occasionally be needed. Long trousers were not permitted in my first two years of primary school. I had a coat but my knees were raw red.
Of course, my apologies, youâve mentioned Kirrie before (Peter Pan town). Very much the region of loons & quines. And cold winds.
Yes, I am one who enjoys the very cold weather. It makes me appreciate my body getting colder, then into the house to warm up with a hot cup of coffee, and warm socks!
When I lived in Florida for eight years, I absolutely hated hot, humid, air conditioning everywhere you went.
Give me winter any day! Oh wait, itâs coming soon to a place near me ![]()

Ah ⊠playing with snow is another thing entirely âŠ

Yes, Kirrie but loons and quines would be from AberdoniunsâŠ
Not that sort of âsnowâ, you junkie. !!
I despise the cold. Absolutely no need nor reason to go out in it and say âoh, what a good boy am I?â
If God had intended us to get by in freezing areas, he wouldnât have placed his Son, Jesus, in a place where it never gets down to those sorts of temperatures.
True, true. But wider afield also. My family have roots in the very east of Angus - the land of Sunset Song (if you know it). And in the book Chris Guthrie was very much a quine.
BTW I re-read this book a few years ago (it having been compulsory reading at school). Two things struck me - the hardship and the humour.
If you have to work in it, like or dislike donât really matter, same goes for 30+C
