I had a bit of a surprise today from an Instagram post. I don’t know if it is true so perhaps a US member can confirm it.
You think of the USA as the place of low taxes but this was about California and might vary from State to state. It appears that in California there are two income taxes - a federal income tax and a state income tax then there were other expenses such as Medicare, social security, state disability.
It was saying that if you earned $1.5 million you would pay 49.5% in tax. I was surprised because in Australia on the same income you would pay 45% in tax (looked it up)
BTW this is a high salary by any standard, the average pay in Australia is apparently $90800 and on that wage the total tax would be 24%, I wonder what the California equivalent tax on that would be?
Don’t forget we also have a 10% GST/VAT so that is not all the tax a person pays even we pensioners pay that.
Did you see the rush into the buffet after all the shows have finished Bruce…Midnight snackers. I can’t sleep on a full stomach… But I was tempted after a drink or two…
Stephen Hawking had to be convinced to drop every equation in the manuscript of A Brief History of Time except for E = mc^2 because supposedly every equation would cut the number of people interested in half.
I am on holidays in Mandurah.
Things not going the best though.
I threw my back out yesterday morning and am having to move with an amount of pain and discomfort.
Stayed in my room yesterday.
Using Deep Heat cream and anti inflammatories.
Might need to go to a Chiropractor tomorrow
Sorry to hear that Bretrick. Try and keep it moving though if you can. Inactivity will make it worse…All the best and I hope the pain is short lived so you can enjoy your holiday…
Most certainly worse in the morning after sleeping.
Managed to get about yesterday with a bit of discomfort. Will see if I can manage, or I might visit a chiropractor.
Tracy Chapman was able to debut her song “Fast Car” to over 600 million people due to Stevie Wonder losing an important hard drive needed to do his own performance
This is Chapman’s performance of Fast Car at Wembley in 1988. The silence of that crowd is incredible. More details of the story is in the description of the video. To that point, she had sold 250,000 copies. Two weeks later, she had sold 2 million.
